Might have a go on a scissor lift, so broke it down to these two ... a Snap-On EELR300A or the BendPak MD-6XP.

Any experience with either, then I'd like your opinion. BendPak is a little more, but new. Snap-On is used, but in almost new condition. Literally used only three times. There is another in Portland that's even cheaper < $1250, but condition is unknown.

How easy are they to move around? They say they're portable, but how much? BendPak seems more so, being lighter in weight and the videos I've seen.

Bend pack, although I'd go for a twin pad style that is open in the middle...depending on what type of vehicles you will be lifting. Unless you are on a very smooth level surface, they don't move easily.

I have the Snap On one at home - the best $600 I spent !

It is Very HEAVY (compared to my old Rotary scissor non wheeled lift) and is movable on a flat relatively smooth surface. I modified the the hydraulic hose though. I had a local aircraft hydraulic shop build a 20ft hose with aircraft quick disconnects (no fluid loss) so that I can move the pump inside if the driveway project is going to be a two day gig.

when not in use a car is parked over it and the pump is inside the garage and out of sight.

sorry couldn't post pics for some reason last night. So much better than jack and stands.

BTW - really dig your first gen CRX. I've got an 89 Civic hatch myself and the above picture is my brother's 85 Civic 1500 S. He's also got two 79 Civics and even an N600. All will be getting "upgraded" powerplants at some point :rocker:

And not to threadjack but like the other poster said, hat does just look like a mat - how do those roller arms not destroy that mat as they move?

I have the HF lift and the roller wheels on mine are starting to chew up the concrete some as they roll back and forth with the weight on it. I've been pondering adding something underneath it but haven't decided what to use. I had been leaning toward using "strips" of steel underneath the roller wheel deals but I figured they would tend to slide away as the lift moves.

Here's a pic from the weekend of what I mean. If you'll notice where the roller wheel contacts the concrete you can see how it's gouging out "tracks" and has the powdery chewed up concrete look there.

The ramps are race ramps that they sell just for this purpose, using with scissor lifts. The arms swing out right over the top of them which i needed with the crx.

The lift is sitting on some race deck flooring. I also have some steel plates under the rear wheels. I didnt want the lift damaging the concrete floor. I had to put put the plates under the rear rollers becuase the race deck buckled at max height with the car on it.

Thanks for the props on the CRX. It has a B16 swapped plus tones of other goodies. Just got front struts back from Koni, fresh rebuild, rebuilt quicker ratio rack, new camber caster plates and making cross brace plates that all need to go in. Also going to larter torsion bars to flatten out the car a bit in the corners. Also just chopped the roof off of a 86dx that we are going to use to re-skin my roof and get rid of the sunroof. So much going on and the lift makes it all easier.

How tall are your guys ceilings? I want a Challenger MR6 (mid rise lift) but my ceiling is only 7-8 foot. I could use it outside but i'm trying to keep all the work inside the garage.

I have 9' at the rafters, and 15' to ceiling. Lift will be between the rafters, which are 12' OC. Might be looking at getting a 4'x5'x1/8" steel plate.

So the steel plates don't tend to move with the race deck there?

I wonder if I could just put some of that "anti-fatigue" foam type faux steel plate looking stuff under my whole setup, then put the steel plates under the wheels but above the foam. I may look into that this weekend.

Very cool on the CRX. We put a D16 in the 83 Civic (I just realized above I said 85, but it's an 83 really. Don't know why I said 85). It's been a long work in progress but on the home stretch now. The 83 was originally carbureted so he welded in the entire upper tank assembly/fuel pump/hanger assembly from an EG Civic. Full EG Civic wiring harness/ECU/everything. EF Civic wheel/wiper/light/turn signal stalks. EG speedometer/odometer and tach swapped into the original 83 cluster and he even figured out how to get the rest of the original 83 gauges/indicators to read from the EG ECU and wiring.

Tons of little totally one-off custom things he's done to it. Coilovers from the UK. He even designed custom adapters in SketchUp that he then had a machine shop mill for him for a big brake setup consisting of Integra calipers on 11" Mini rotors.

And sorry I'm done threadjacking now :lol_hitti

Pier and beam with a slab garage floor. Several steps which step "down" into the garage from the kitchen area. Never measured garage floor to the ceiling but it's probably at least a good 13'-14'. If I position cars so that the roofs/windshields don't hit the garage door opener, I can definitely max out the HF scissor lift.

My ceiling is 10.5 feet high so I can go all the way up. The issue I have is the garage door. Which I am going to get raised this winter so I can go all the way up with the door open.

The plates have not moved yet. It just happened that as the lift approached max height it was right near a tile seem and it caused it to buckle. The other way I use the race deck it to square my ramps for the CRX. They are cut so that when I push the ramps up against them they are the perfect width for the CRX and square to the lift. I just have to drive up straight.

Civic looks great, I love these older Hondas. Best part is there are fewer and fewer of them so it fun to be out, on the streets or on the track in something different then others. We are kicking around a K series swap. The advantage is I will have the same HP but a lot more torque to pull me out of the turns with and it weights in the same as the b16.

I would buy the Snap-On.

I purchased a Bendpak MD-6XP about 2 years ago. The fit & finish is not very good on the actual lift, and I've also had leak problems with the fluid tank. Bendpak sent a new fluid tank, which solved the problem, but the fit & finish issues are still there.

By the way, they say this is normal and ok (the other three arms lay perfectly flat against the lift surface):

How are people handling the damage from the steel wheels?

I am guessing your talking about the rear steel wheels that are on the ground as the lift goes up. if so I put a steel plate under each one. Works great, does not move and no damage. As I mentioned above I only did it because the race deck buckled. Had that not happened I would not use any since the lift is on the race deck. There are some others on this forum that have theirs on race deck and have no issues. Just got lucky, or unlucky, and mine lined up with the seam exactly and the right point.

You have a part number for the ramps? Are they a combined set or a collection?

Also, do you work for Race Ramps? They have your car in their web site ...
