Hey gang,

I have two brand new videos for you featuring the Harbor Freight portable pocket hole jig kit (Item 96264). I love this jig kit and I think its as good as the kreg (possibly better). Please check out my videos and let me know what you think.

I have two videos. The first is my table top review and tool breakdown.

The second is the tutorial.

Nice review. I have owned both the Kreg K4 and the HF model. I returned both and bought the Kreg R3 and added a used Bimba Spring return actuator and a cheap Chinese Foot valve. Total cost was around 80 dollars maybe even cheaper.

If anyone would like to make one here is a Sketchup Model of the Jig.

What annoyed me about both Jigs was when I tried clamping larger panels. Could never reach around the board to clamp it with out nocking it out of place.

I see what you did. I am so glad I came across these pocket jigs.

I've noticed that the Harbor Freight jig makes the pocket holes much closer to the edge of a piece of wood than the Kreg jig does. As a result, I find I cannot use Kreg's screw selection chart, and need shorter screws than a Kreg jig user making the same joint.

Also, the reviews on the HF jig talk a lot about using a nickel to set the depth of the drill bit. That's just the maximum depth so that you don't drill into the jig's base, but for any pocket hole that you're drilling, you'd want a shallower depth, otherwise a pocket hole screw's unthreaded shank would extend beyond the first piece of wood. So if the depth is set correctly on the drill bit using the collar, you wouldn't even come close to hitting the jig's base. So I'm not sure why the nickel is even discussed?

Where can I find one of these return actuators?

The Kreg K5 has the clamp handle in the front.
