I am not a shill for westling, I have just admired their stuff and been trying to get a group buy together for us. I expressed that a bunch of us on this forum wanted to get in on a group buy should there be one. Long story short they are doing a sale for us. The sale starts Thursday or Friday and ends sometime around Tuesday. This is for their labor day sale. The sale should be around 10% off but nothing is certain. They will be having a few new products and wrench racks will be coming soon but probably not for the sale.

I spoke with Pam at westling. They are currently making wrench racks and they will be for sale but it doesn't look like they will be in time for this sale. They are however making a deal with amazon so their products will be on amazon shortly.

Their website is updating this week and there is expectations for possibly a new color.

Wonder how long before they will be on Amazon... If it would go through Prime, saving the cost of shipping would be better than the 10% off unless you spend $100.

Pam said it looks like within the next few months they should be on amazon. For me I am already spending more than $100 and I am using the discount so it works great for me.

Many guys getting the engraving? I contemplated it until I realized that they dont match up perfect (specifically the 3/8 set) with the Sunex impact set I just ordered. Sunex skips the 25mm and adds the 30mm. Also, if getting the engraving, I will have empty spots with a size designation, so that only means I will have to purchase what I'm missing.

Even though it's only a 10% discount, I still saved quite a bit. I bought the big set, two of the 3/8 and 1/4 universal, a 3/8 universal, and an additional 3/8 metric just in case impacts and swivels don't all fit. All mine are going to be black, so if I eventually want to use, say one of my extra standard trays on the metric side, it won't look weird. I'm pretty excited about this. I feel that these are next socket trays available right now and I've done a ton of research into this decision.

Yeah, I personally didn't want engraving because my sets omits useless sockets, like 9mm and I've heard you can shift sizes further down and still have enough spacing between sockets. Eventually, I want to have sockets up to 36mm, but skip the extremely uncommon sizes to save room.

Can't seem to get their site to work, every time I click on add to cart or view cart buttons it takes me straight to PayPal homepage, without doing anything else useful.

Works here in the US but might be an issue as you are on the other side of the pond.

I suspect that shipping to the UK might be a deal killer. :dunno:

Have you emailed them at [email protected] or [email protected] and asked about overseas shipping?

No I haven't emailed them.
Shipping here is a lot but there is no other product like these available that I know of.
They are on ebay with shipping to the UK, at full price, but the full set was not on there this morning nor the universal trays or the black option.
If they don't do direct international shipping then I will probably get them through HJE as I buy other tools from them.

Their website was kind of funny but if go back to the main page and just keep adding things to your cart they will all add.

These look really nice, but hard to justify purchasing when the cheap plastic ones I have from harbor freight are doing a good enough job organizing my sockets. More of a want than a need. Haven't convinced myself yet, though it is tempting.

The reason I justify organizational aids is because well designed organizers can save a substantial amount of drawer space. By doing so, it allows me to fit more significantly more tools in the same size tool box, so I don't have to pay for a larger and/or numerous box(es).

I used the "Continue Shopping" button after adding each item on the PayPal cart page.

Thanks for the heads up, bought $160 worth of assorted trays,, time to get my socket chest drawers in some sort of organization. I hate working on a big project and in the middle, your looking for that 14mm socket.

To me, it looks like you would fit far fewer tools with Westling trays than you would with conventional rails. Am I missing something? I would think for the same size drawer you could have a ton more sockets on those crappy metal rails than on the beautiful Westling trays.

Well, I guess it depends on what's important to you. Sure, the rails make for some of the highest raw quantity, but you could even beat them by simply throwing sockets into a pile in drawer. What the Westling trays offer over other options, I guess, is functional efficiency. I only need a finite amount of sockets so, for me, quantity is only part of the equation. Another part is retrieval. In the orientation the trays put them in (up), a quick scan of my drawer tells me which socket to reach for (I get it right the first try 9/10 times). Then there's replacement. Anything that makes it faster and easier to put tools away when I'm done with them, helps with productivity. At the end of a long project, The last thing you want to do it put tools away. It might sound silly, but the idea of being able to drop them on a peg in one simple motion, sometimes makes the difference here; and putting the tools away in designated locations in the box at the end of the day, or at the end of a job, is the best way to make absolutely certain you will know where they are the next time you need them.

I can't help but hoarde sockets... I just love them. However, the rails have an advantage over just throwing them in a drawer because I make sets with them. I do have a ton of loose sockets in my drawer but I have a in order set of SAE and Metric in 1/4" 3/8" and 1/2" so if I'm working on suspension on a car with metric fasteners I'll grab the 1/2" Metric rail. They're not marked but if I am done at the end of the day and have three open spots I can replace them in the right spots.

I am still thinking of getting a Westling tray to try it out. I'm sure they feel awesome and maybe I can use it for my best set of Wrights or something.

This has been killing me since Friday. I love these trays but already have a small fortune into my Ernst rails. If I went this route it'd be a $500 order. Damn-damn-damn ;)

Anybody wanna buy a **** load of Ernst rails cheap :)

Anyone know if a set of impact sockets will fit on these trays? I tried using my Lowes trays for my Sunex impact sets which work fine for the smaller sized ones, but when you get to the larger sizes the pins are not far enough apart. If I remember correctly I had a problem with the last 2 or 3 sockets from my 3/8" and 1/2" metric and SAE sets not fitting on the Lowes trays.

I fit my whole Sunex 1/2" master set on it, from 9mm to 30mm. Seems like it was almost designed for this set, it matches in sizes and in total count.

edit: nevermind, I looked at the website, they list different sizes on the marked ones vs what's in the Sunex set, but I got mine unmarked. The whole set fits though, which is what matters.

I received an email the day after I made my purchase saying my order has shipped, but then I looked at the tracking number and all it says is that a shipping label was created. It still says that on the site. What gives? Is anyone else having this problem?

Yeah, I have tracking numbers for both my orders but they're both at "Shipping Label Created". I'm guessing it might take them a bit as they're a pretty small outfit from what I know and who knows how many orders they received.

Huh. I ordered mine just a few hours after the sale went live. It will be interesting to see how long it takes.

Might be the post office's tracking system being slow too. I had a package that arrived at the post office location yesterday, and there's no update that it's out for delivery yet, and says it should be delivered today. Usually my mail comes pretty early in the morning (8-9 AM).

Never mind, looks like it updated. They delivered later than normal today.

Mine was labeled yesterday and I assume with the holiday will be updated with movement info by tonight. And since I am only 1 state over, it should get here pretty quick.
