Hello all, I am currently in the process of finishing up my garage and am in need of a Drill press and vise, I have been scanning craigslist for older stuff as I like the look and construction of it better but I don't have much knowledge of it. What would be good brands to look out for, specifically for a pedestal drill press and 4-6 inch vise?

Thanks in advance

Most of vises in your area are stupid high in price, but there's one gem I see if you got it for $100:

As far as drill presses, this is the one I'd want to own, even if I had to shorten the post for bench use:

Good luck

I just bought a drill press like that! I love it. I gave my old craftsman to my neighbor.

I recently picked up a Clausing drill press for $200. Honestly, I really didn't know what it was but since have found out it's pretty darn nice. New they sell for $4000. There are great deals out there, just takes time and patience.

As far as a vise, these are plentiful too. Any older USA made is going to be leaps and bounds better than a new Chinese one. Just check it thoroughly for any cracks or damage. $50 can buy you a good used vise.

Good deal on a nice med duty drill press. Having both tables is very nice.

Looks like there's a decent tilting vise and a box of bits in the deal as well. I think you could sell the production table if you only want a bench vise, and offset a lot of the investment
