I got one today at the pawn shop for pretty much nothing.

The chrome and everything is PERFECT! It's squeaked and felt awful though.

So I took it apart and cleaned it and lubed it. It's as good as new! Amazing condition!

But the 2 screws that hold it all together don't fit flush. They stick through the threaded plate about 1-2 mm.

Is this normal?

Or do you think it should have has lock washers? I notice that some do and some don't.

???

It is normal, I have a 1/4 one (forgot the model #) and they stick out a bit.

picked up a 1/4 Proto few weeks ago at a garage sale as basically a free add on.

Decided I didnt like some of the rust on the functioning rat, soaked it in vinegar for 2 maybe 3 days... now I cant find the springs!! DId I really lose them or did the vinegar disintegrate them

I lost one too when I rebuilt/cleaned mine yesterday. I just about tore the room apart for half an hour trying to find where it had rolled under my workbench.

The I realized it was still on the bench about 6 inches from where it was supposed to be. DOH!

Those are some TINY springs! I was thinking I'd replace it with some spongy foam rubber or neoprene if it was really lost. A little chunk of old mouse pad would probably work, I think.
