I'm not a tool truck guy, so maybe that's the issue with my confusion.

This wrench has been described as blemished, but not defective.
The tool has been described as essentially brand new and that it could be sold off the truck without difficulty.

I really don't understand what would "obligate" the SO truck owner to warranty it. I can understand that he might, but to me it seems he would be doing it as a favor to Merk. And that would be the kind of favor where, if I were the SO dealer, I'd have to know the person very well, and not need chased down.

Does SO typically warranty blemishes?

It's a little too messed up to call a blemish - it's actually "defective" - to use Fedwrench's word. :D

The dealer's not obligated at all ... he could tell me to go eat dirt if he wanted to.

Supposedly it was sold as new, yet it has all the rust spots in the box end?

I was afraid someone would mention that. It's not rusted, but rather not chrome plated in that area.

I wonder how bad the off center broaching would compromise the structural integrity of the box end. I would most definitely warranty the wrench, though I probably would mail it directly to Snap-on.

Yeah it's awfully thin on that right side. I might have to send it in to Snap-on, but quite frankly, I'm worried about them sending another defective wrench back. :D

You remind me of that dude "house" but less of the funny more of the ignorance complex. That time the cut the notch in the cane so he would fall down.

Some one needs to make a nice big snap on box fall on you and slightly crush you, then you might get over your "insane perfectionist"

The only way to get some one to learn is with a life changing event!

I'll tell you all what ... the next time I DO step on a Snap-on truck with the full intension of buying a tool at FULL price ... I'm going to stand there and inspect it VERY carefully. The distributor will think I'm bonkers, but F... him!! I'm gonna have a lot of fun with that. :)

You just have a crappy guy. Most of my SO stuff was bought in the 90's in another state and I have never had an issue getting warranty where I live now.

I do that whenever i buy something from Snap-on. My dealer knows what i'm like. I bought a set of 3/8" metric hex drivers off my old dealer and the 4mm was broached pissed. The driver was at an angle. I got him to open another brand new set and replace it.

Merk,

You'd better not EVER buy any Chinese V8 wrenches. As beautiful as they are in terms of finish, they are ALL off center like that or in some way out of wack on the box end.

Its not an irregularity its a selling point. The right side of the box end is so that you have access to bolts and nuts in very tight locations, while the left portion of the box end is for all other bolts and nuts. Please note you received this extra as a thank you for your devote respect for the snap on product. Thank you for being such a great customer.

LOL! Merk better not find the SO dealer who reads this post!

I found a damaged phillips screwdriver and took it to the first dealer I met. He gave me a used screwdriver that was in better shape, but not perfect. That was OK with me because when it wears out, I'll take it to another truck.

Merk,
I was thinking while sitting here tonight that I remember warrantying this same wrench recently. So off to the garage I went. Turns out I was right. I thought maybe we could trade wrenches and I could warranty the wrench w/ my dealer,

Anyway, while my wrench is not as bad as yours, it's a little off center. I turned it around and it's off center a diiferent way. It seems to be the way the wrench is placed when punch. It's fatter on the left side (like yours but not as bad) no matter if your looking at the front or back of the wrench.

bry@n,

If you watch that YouTube video showing how the wrenches are made, you'd wonder to yourself how in the world they could be off center ... I know I have. :dunno:
