Hey, do you like the nice factory chrome finish on my brake spoon?

I guess I could complain to my Snap-on dealer that it has been keeping me awake nights for the last 20+ years :lol_hitti

I have found though, that if I keep my perfect 7/16" combo in a little velvet box on the bedside table, I just drift off on a fluffy cloud and sleep like a kitten.

I think Merk goes overboard sometimes, but I would not accept all of the defects in the tool pictured. That is a lot of money for a brand new tool that looks terrible and is likely weaker than a non defective tool.

That's "Snap-On Quality" (TM)???

I'd be embarrassed to put my name on that.

As far as Merk's wrench is concerned, I would have to agree with you. I suspect the two dealers in my area now would exchange that wrench without batting an eyelash and I haven't spent $100 between them. But I am sure the dealer I bought from a few years back would have acted like I took bread from his family's table for buying a wrench somewhere other than his truck.

The brake spoon never bothered me. I needed one, it worked fine, and I knew what it looked like when I bought it. I would not have accepted a wrench with the same finish flaws as the brake spoon though.

I figured Merkava_4 could use a little help starting some new threads and I just can't resist an opportunity to poke a little fun:). Just imagine Merkava's reaction if either one of those tools were posted up by someone with a Craftsman or SK brand on them.

Since it's now Thursday on the East coast, I'm gonna' say I stopped by a different dealer on Wednesday to look at a wrench. I handed him my defective wrench and asked him if he had one like it that I could just look at. He took the wrench and handed me a new 7/16" Flank Drive Plus to look at. I looked it over real close and did see a perfectly uniform broached 12 point box end. Did I ask the guy if I could have it in exchange for my defective one? Hell no!! I learned my lesson hard on Tuesday. :D

I handed him his wrench back and he handed me back the defective one. At that point I asked him for the return mailing address for new defective tools. He said it's in Nevada somewhere but he didn't have the exact address with him; it's in the lap top computer at his home he said. At that point he had the opportunity to offer me the perfect wrench on the truck, but I wasn't expecting him to and he sure as hell didn't. :D

I thanked him for his time and walked back to my car with my defective wrench. ;)

How would you like to sell that weird wrench ? I think I'd frame it & hang it in the garage. It might wind up being a good conversation piece. :bounce:

I'm seriously thinking about keeping the damn thing. If anyone starts a thread inquiring about Snap-on wrenches, I'll show them the photo and tell them to inspect every single wrench in person before buying. And I think my days of buying wrenches on eBay are numbered; it's too risky now, especially with their new warranty policy.

Did I mention that this is my 2cnd wrench I've got being off center? The first one was a 12mm. It's too early to say Snap-on is having epidemic QC issues, but I'd advise all you dudes to pay close attention before buying Snap-on from here on out.
