AAARRRGGG!! Should I just start framing?

I have had my footings and block wall foundation finished for almost a month. I have been patiently waiting for it to quit raining every other day so that I can pour my slab. I have covered it with tarps, but it is supposed to rain again tonight, and I found out that my concrete guy (my nephew) is in the hospital with cellulitis).

Should I just say F it and start framing? Im tired of looking at an unfinished project, and I cant continue with any of the other projects (yard, fence, etc) until this is done. Will there be issues with the finishing of the concrete if I have it framed? The slab will be 22'x36' so it will probably be poured and finished in sections as he goes along.

Put down your gravel,compact it and start framing!Hopefully by the time the roof is on your concrete guy will be better and ready to go.I poured my slab after the building was up,no issues,and didn't have worry about the weather affecting it while it cured.

Slab after framing was the preferred way that my concrete guy wanted to do the pour on my 20x22. I didn't have to worry about rain when the slab was poured (it was done on halloween 2007, and about 72 degrees that day).
I would think, even covered, that a hard rain could do some damage to your slab.

I think the other advantage to waiting was being able to make sure that the soil around the footer/block stem wall was fully compacted before the stone was brought in.

I had my floor poured after the roof was up. But you may want to get your concrete guys opinion 1st.

Its easier to pour before framing because you can get the chute from the concrete truck in the building further.

If it was me, I'd frame it rather than wait. You can always wheelbarrow the 'crete in if you have to.

Chute won't be a problem. We will be pumping the concrete in from the street. Previous owner of my house failed to see the need for reinforced concrete in the driveway.

Knowing that I would go ahead and start framing it in. Once you have a roof on, the floor can be poured rain or shine. Plus you won’t get the floor marked up from framing.

You will probably be better off pouring after the framing is done especially if you are having not only rainy weather but also intense sun. The building will shade the floor and let the concrete cure normally.

Pour after the slower your concrete cures the better you are.

my building is a 30x40 and was up for about 3 years before I poured a floor. it was no big deal, didn't affect the slab at all, protected it from the weather, etc.

the only drawback that i can remember was wheelbarrowing all that concrete b/c of the chute not being able to get back in far enough. now that was a job, but that was the hardest part.

Yep, as stated... Start swinging that hammer!

Edit: Throw your gravel in there first. then your feet won't get all muddy and it will help compact it.

the problem with framing before placement is you can only finish from one side, you can only bull float from one direction. do it right, make it llook good, just get another crew and pour today
