+1 on the through bolts. Way stronger than lag screws.
A couple of years ago I was hobbling around on crutches. But I didn't have a wife "helping" so I ended up doing almost as many sales as when I was fit. [emoji106]I could pretend to be retired this week because of recovery from surgery, but due to crutches, my wife discouraged being out and about at Thursday yard sales :-(
Not plated. Just sanded to 1200 grit, buffed, and polished.
I was momentarily disoriented at a garage sale yesterday. The tables were turned and the dialog was reversed. As I walked up the driveway, the nice woman said, “Are you looking for tools? I only have this vise.” When the dizziness subsided I bought it. Only $3

Are you using that Jedi mind trick thing again????![]()
Nice job Bagged. The new owner will be happy with your vise and the work you did. You put some hours into that one, do you open up the 4 jaw pins or keep it at 13/64 diameter?

bagged,
That is one awesome looking Parker. The new owner should be very happy indeed.
I got this vise on Tuesday

Not the best restore I've ever seen but I will say it looks much better in person than it does in these pictures.
Holy **** bagged. It's art!
BAGGED....VERY nice job on the Parker......You are a first class artisan....What paint did you use?......
New vise at a nice price!
It was a kicker in a deal for a new scanner, with a $300 rebate and a $1295 good customer discount.
It's a Wilton tradesman. Looks like it's in good condition. Just missing the sticker which is available from Wilton. Go buy it if it's cheap.
Thanks.Keep up the good work Bagged. I'll still be on the hunt in the meantime.
Reed Manufacturing in Erie, PA has been owned by members of the Wright family of Erie, Pa for many decades.......The family also owns a weekend residence in Westfield, NY which is about 35 miles east of Erie.....I've toured this house a couple times and it is gorgeous.....This picture popped up on Facebook tonight and I thought I'd share it with the fans of Reed vises...Taught the boy everything he knows...

Just beautiful Bagged. How did you get the handle knob polished so well around the handle?

Is TriJeff also a student of yours?Including how to round over edges.![]()

. It is impossible to achieve sharp edges by hand. To do it right you need a mill or shaper. We do our best. I'm working to correct this with a new tool I picked up. We"ll see if it works.

Very Cool stands !!!! Good for you
My guess on the ones in the back of the truck are a 956 on the plate mounting and a 976 with no base on the other one.
Pictures are hard to guess size, then they 958 & 978. The 978 was the supposed 10" mounted outside on the pole ?
Sometimes we are good, sometimes we are lucky and SOMETIMES WE HIT A HOMERUN!!!! I was cleaning up one of the vise stands and I saw writing under the rust. A little wire brushing later??? Voila!! It reads PARKER MERIDEN CT .......PAT 1863. OH YEAH BABY the vise stands were made by PARKER. WOO-HOO!!!!![]()
