Overhead Door Track

Trying to help a neighbor whose ex hit the garage wall when he was moving out. Knocked the wall off the footer and brought the overhead door down.

Got the wall back into place with some tractor help and scraps of wood, but the track for the door is twisted beyond reasonable repair. Thought I'd find it cheap at Lowes and just donate to the cause, but I'm not finding the stuff available for anything like what I figured would be a reasonable price. Even straightening brackets and reusing them it's looking like well over $100 just for the track.

Am I missing something or is it crazy expensive for what it is? I'm look on CL and have calls in to some people in construction to see what I can find, but it's been a week and nothing has shown up.

Ideas or sources?

Call a garage door installation company that likely has "bone pile" that they can sell you a used piece of track.

Well, so far no luck. Called two places that specialize in overhead doors (hint, hint) and neither would even sell old track. I imagine if I could talk to the actual service people I could get somewhere. Don't know how I'd do that unless I can flag one down on the road.

I have calls in to a couple of construction people I know to see if they can help. Going to swing by a scrapyard in the morning and see if they happen to have any.

$53 + shipping is the best I can find for the vertical track, and I can't even find a source for the horizontal section.

This lady is in a financial mess. Inherited the house and is in danger of losing it over unpaid taxes.

Thanks, the local overhead door place would rather sell me a whole door than the parts I need

Keep trying different local door stores. I understand that some are not helpful, ran into that myself. You might want to concentrate on the locally owned independent stores. Also, keep in mind that the vertical track can be cut and spliced back together, so depending on how much is bent, you might be able to just cut the bad part out and bolt in a new piece. The horizontal section though needs to be one piece.

You might want to take an add out on Craigslist as well.
