Hi All,

You might have heard of the BluBird Air hoses on this forum. If you haven't, here's the link to our website that details them:

We are now coming up with the RMA Class A Oil Resistant variant of the BluBird for (mostly) indoor use at places where the hose is bound to come in contact with oil and grease.

The Oil Shield is much lighter and stronger than any other similar rubber hoses in its category. And yes, it's still rubber.

We have 10 samples that we are giving out as beta-testing samples in the next 10 days. If you're interested, please respond on this thread or mail to us at [email protected] and then we can take it forward.

I work in a hydraulics shop, submerged in oil is not at all uncommon. If you end up with some self-coiling 10-12 foot lines for bench use, I would be very happy to test some of them out for you.

I got mine, played with it a bit. First off, it is light. 5.4 lbs vs. 8 pounds for my same size Goodyear black rubber hose. The fittings are brass and nice. I put it in the fridge overnight to see how manageable it would be cold (it is 80 degrees here at present, the coldest my garage would ever get is maybe 45, so a fridge test of 35 degrees F is good enough for me. Sorry if you live in Minneapolis, I cannot test it at minus 30.

Anyway it is pretty much usable at cool temperatures, not super floppy but definitely easy to work with. The heavy goodyear hose was about the same stiffness when cold.

That is all I know for now, the yellow hose looks like new after dragging it around a bit. I will definitely grab this hose over the Goodyear.

Thank you, sir. I would like to add, and correct me if I'm wrong, the black Goodyear is not an RMA Class A oil-resistant hose and is probably not 300PSI. The Goodyear's 300PSI oil resistant hose will be even heavier. Also, true oil-resistant hoses tend to do much worse in cold-weather and the fact that it's comparable to a non-oil-resistant hose is quite encouraging.

Thank you, sir. If by self-coiling you mean that, there already is an auto-retractable hose reel that has a BluBird hose on the market. Available on Amazon.com as well.

Hey Rishav, are your bluebird hoses available in Canada yet? I have not looked in the past couple months.

I was an original beta tester for the bluebird hose, and the hose has been phenomal. It is used all day everyday in an automotive shop, and has not skipped a beat. Easy to coil, easy to clean, and wearing very well. Recommend over flexzilla and Goodyear any day.

It looks like they carry BluBird at Menards? I'm going to have to keep an eye out next time I'm in there and pick one up. I don't need oil resistance but it sounds like the regular hoses are well regarded as well.

I've been using these hoses full time since I received them and have been impressed with them. Cold weather (-10F) testing - hose was actually relatively pliable and useful. Thats a nice change, particularly for us northern tier fellas.
Only thing they haven't been subjected to was the plasma arc and mig gun, used the old hoses.

I've put them thru the paces, they have lasted well.

Rishav, once again, Thanks for the opportunity to work with your product and I plan on using your products in the garage.

Mine has held up exceptionally well. It's definitely not as pliable as the standard blue blubird hose (which is no surprise), but the lower weight and better flexibility than my oil resistant goodyear is a nice bonus. I haven't really run into any situations where it wasn't good. It's a hose, it's very light, much more flexible than other hoses in the same class. Can't ask for much more.

And yes, the regular BluBird will be slightly better at pliability and cold weather flexibility but if you need oil-resistance, Oil Shield is the way to go. Both are, we think with good reason, the best in class.

Just wanted to see if we have some long term reviews from your end. It's been a while since you got them and we did get initial impressions but how has it been working long term? We'd love to incorporate your feedback.

And everyone else, BluBird and Oil-Shield hoses have been on Amazon for a while and they've been doing great. Check them out and let us know

For the uninitiated, BluBirds are the lightest all-rubber air hoses on the market, as light as hybrids (like Flexzilla) but better in almost every other sense (like cold-weather and welding splatter resistance and easy to clean). Not to forget the 10 year warranties

Oil-Shield comes with RMA Class A Oil Resistance - grease, diesel, oil etc. are no issues at all. Welding splatter will do this no harm as it will to plastics and hybrids and some of the rubber hoses to an extent. This is the hose your shop needs.

one of the hose you sent me has also been doing great

no leak from the fitting crimped ends and still wraps up nicely, also seams to uncoil very easy and not many kinks

Mine is still good as well, looks like new. I just moved to a new shop so I had to pack it up, coil it into a box, along with some black and Red Goodyear hoses, the Bluebird is so much easier to handle.

I was in on the original sample of blue hoses, I'm ok with the quality of the hose but I don't like the kinking that goes on, you have to uncoil and straighten it other wise it kinks. I have a 25' water hose from you that does the exact same thing, I use it but it to does the same thing, kinks when unrolling. They are lightweight and flexible when cold, now just fix the kinking issue.

Thank you for this feedback. Do you think it kinks more than other regular hoses? I ask because all hoses tend to kink, it's just the degree that varies.
