The info is there for the Classics but not the Magnums. Dean from Saber was very quick to respond with email. The Classics and the Magnums are the same size.

bdamico -

What brand of tool box do you have and how is the color match? I've been looking at the Extreme and Montezuma rolling tool cabinets and am hoping for a good match if I decide to go with the blue as you have... otherwise I may hold out for all black.

I am wondering the same thing. How do they hold up? Still pleased about your purchase? Anything you are disappointed about?

Looks great. Did you end up having to move all those cabinets out of way to build the soffit over the top??

BTW, the soffit storage and excellent slider doors turned out primo excellente !!

Also, what was overall investment you put into cabinets??

BD - I am about to order phase 1 of my garage cabinet needs since they now have black available. A couple of quick questions for you:

1) How long did it take to arrive once you ordered?

2) You are 8-10 months in now, how are you liking them, and how are they holding up?

I'll be wall mounting all of mine (I hate stuff on the floor), and these look pretty darn sturdy.

Seeing this thread several months ago pretty much convinced me to buy them, and when I saw they were coming in black... well, 'nuff said.

I realize it wasn't directed at me but my initial SMU-20 (upper) only took 3-4 days. I am just placing the order for the rest of mine today and the quote is 3 days from NV to OH.

I will probably start my own Saber cabinet thread once I get the rest of them just so people can find more info. Other than this thread and the limited website there isn't much out there and that was my biggest concern before ordering. From the couple emails and phone calls I've exchanged with Dean he seems like a decent guy and the cabinets seem pretty nice for the price. I am excited to get the rest of my order into the garage.

Good info, as mine will ship to Columbus, OH, so it sounds like a good range. I'll be sure to look for your thread. and I'll likely start one of my own...

I've got to set this thread up to let me know when people post. These cabinets are great. No problems. They're heavy gauge steel. There wont be any problems. They're not going to warp or peel or whatever. I built the soffit right on top.

The soffit is designed to support itself but it was built right on top of the cabinets and I guess transfers weight to the floor through the cabinets. This is part of the reason I went with legs even though the cabinets are wall mounted. Otherwise, I would have just hung them and called it a day.

Shipping -- can't recall. I waited a long *** time for these--but that's because I wanted them before they were available and waited I think 10 months for them to be done. But, once he had them in stock it was a quick few week turnaround.

Anyone with doubts--no need. Not much alternative in this price range for something that comes close enough to the high end stuff for me not to spend over 10k on cabinets (and I'm the kind of guy who would). And leaps and bounds above stuff in the lower price ranges.

I can't recall cabinet prices -- maybe $3k shipped?

Suppose I could start a Black Saber cabinet thread, but this should suffice. I'd second bdamico's experience as well. Recently completed installation of a fair amount of storage in shop. Very good quality...(bolted or not)... Huge storage in wall cabs. Finish very good.

Dean very good to do business with., good communication throughout. It was a fair wait, but I wanted Black, which were still being fabricated when I initially made contact.

Very pleased...

Those look really good. You should get some pics hosted so we can see them better -- what'd you do to support the storage cabs -- looks like your drawers are wall hung

The black looks very nice. Had the silver been available at the time, I probably would have gone silver.

One thing I did is buy some Neodymium Magnets off amazon for my upper cab doors to give the closure a little more high end feel.

Every once in a while I get a pm asking if my review of these cabinets has changed with the passage of time. It has not. They have held up perfectly. No issues with the paint, finish, latches, anything.

So I'd still give them a solid recommendation

I'll second that recommendation!

3-years in I am still very happy with mine. They are holding up well and Dean has been very helpful even after the sale.

Some of mine have only been up a short time however they are great cabinets. I would order them again and again.

Dean has also been extremely helpful even after the sale.

Can you link to the magnets you used? I might borrow that idea.

I wish I could. They are nickel sized neodymium magnets that I got on amazon. Went back to get some more and they are no longer for sale.

I like the blue cabinets. Do you have any idea how they match up to the Masterforce® 41" 11-Drawer Mobile Tool Cabinet from Menards?

No problem, thank you for the idea anyway. I will look for some and if I find them post here.

search eBay and Amazon for neodymium magnets. They have many different ones available.

Excellent write-up. I'm about to order some under cabinet lights; thanks for including the details.

I bought my Sabre cabinets from Dean about 5 years ago and have already moved them once. He only had gray bodies with tan doors at the time so I had all my doors powder coated. It cost me $200. I sent Dean photos at the time..........wonder where he got the idea for blue?

Very nice. The undercabinet lights have served me perfectly well for the last few years so they're gtg in my opinion. How'd you get the dings btw?

Movers and the choice of powdercoat. We moved about 500 miles two years ago. The powdercoat is shiny and slick so every imperfection during fabrication shows. Fortunately it shows much less in person. For some reason the camera brings it all out.

I am at this point now in the new shop. I had looked at Moduline, industrial pieces, home depot stuff, etc. I think my decision is made.
These look great!
I assume I can order extra shelves, etc.
SWEET!

Hmmmmm "cabinets are fabricated in China"....
Possible deal breaker for me.

When I purchased mine for my shop, Dean had both Chinese & Mexican made cabinets. The colors(shade) where sightly different, but the construction & quality is basically the same, (I have some of both). I also have the Newage pro's in my home garage which I had before the Saber's for the shop. One of things that I like about the Sabers is the European style hinges which are totally adjustable, ( Newage uses a piano hinge which are now starting to act up). Overall I like the Saber's over the Newage and Dean is really a nice person to deal with.

The quality is great. I haven't seen an opinion to the contrary. You're not going to get that quality and made in America at this price point.

I respectfully agree with your post. I understand USA made will be more expensive. I'd do mexico, Taiwan, most **** hole third world countries.
I may do china stuff.... but it just pains me. Long story I guess.

I have a quick question, can someone who has the bottom cabinets measure the height (clearance) inside the small drawer? The website says it's 2.48", but the face of the drawer is 3.46". I know I'm talking about the difference of less than an inch, but I'm wondering how much of that inch is on the top side which would presumably be usable and how much is on the bottom side which would be unusable.
