I've been wanting to get into woodworking for a while now and have been browsing Craigslist on and off looking for various pieces of equipment. Long story short I decided that my first purchase was to be a scroll saw. Found this beauty a few hours away and fell in love. She needs a little love but runs smooth. Best part is I only paid $65!
I could use some help in finding out what I'm missing and figuring out how old it is.
Excuse the poor quality pictures, my phone doesn't do well without a lot of light.
I know it's missing the hold down, but I've managed to find one on eBay, just not sure if I want to spend almost as much on it as I bought the saw for.
Blade Guide Hold Down-Ebay
Was there ever a place for a light on these, or is that going to have to be a custom thing?
How does the blade tensioner work? Neither knob on the top part seem to do anything.
Any idea how old this setup is? I googled the model number and found a patent year of 1937, but can't find a year for the motor.
Should each speed have a different belt or will it still be tensioned the same on a faster speed? The motor doesn't move at all.
What weight of oil should I use in it? Straight 30?
