Hello,

I'm looking to get something equivalent to the snap on SVTS272. I can't justify spending almost $300.

Thanks

Not offhand. I've actually got the Blue Point branded one I bought used.
But when it comes to Stant, they'll also sell you each piece individually. They're the Cadillac of coolant pressure testers, but their quality metal adapters should last several lifetimes of heavy use.

edit: Google found me this.

Looks like the Acura adapter set is 10044 (which you'd need in addition to the 12270 base tester). Bought with the Stant label, all said and done, it looks like you'd save about $50 vs the Snap On branded identical stuff.

While the Snap On branded one offers nothing more (AFAIK the warranty is no better), they seem to command a premium on the used tool market. My guess is that if you end up selling this on eBay, you'd get that $50 back in the future.

I have a Stant that is from the 60s or 70s and still good. But now there are all sorts of radiator caps that need adapters.

My stant was very hard to pump, from new.. There's a tiny hole right next to the pump and I just shoot penetrating oil in it, problem solved

I know I will probably get flamed for this, but I have the HF cooling system tester and really like it. It is cheap (about $75 after 20% off coupon) and comes with a bunch of adapters. I have used mine several times and never had any problems. If you are just going to use it for DIY work, I think it is probably your best bet.

Replaced my HF cooling tester with a Stant, the HF tester worked but never easily and the system seemed to have a little leakage. I had a Stant from 30 years ago that was damaged, but the adapters work fine.
Right now the HF is in my give away tool pile, right next to HF fuel system tester, gave away a black HF tool cart to my intern yesterday. slowly but surely my HF stuff is getting flushed

I can't justify buying the Stant and then having to buy a bunch of adapters. I don't have that many vehicles myself, but I do work on the side for others and so far, the HF has had all the adapters I needed.

Slightly off topic. I haven't tried my dealer yet, cuz I know the prices will be outrageous. But does anyone here know where I could find coolant system adaptors for John Deere?

I've looked on the internet before. It hasn't been easy. Sometimes when it comes to things like that Deere makes it difficult to get. Something they make sure is exclusively through them and no one else. That way they can really charge for it.

I have the adapters for the race cars that I work on And transport vehicle. But I can not afford a failure and the method of changing adapter on the HF unit leaves open a large potential for failure. And if you are trying to locate a pin hole leak loosing a little else where is not helping the cause. Since HF has positioned them selves in in market as a one time tool use you can not expect much lifespan of the tool.

The Stant is a good one pumping it up you don't won't to do full strokes. Because pushing in on the handle will bleed of system pressure. I just found that out the other day.
