Tell me more about these tools

I have a small lot of tools that my friend is getting rid of....some of which I am unfamiliar with. See pics and let me know what you think...

And this valve spring depressor......any particular application?

I believe the pliers are for exhaust hangers, if you work in a repair shop they are definitely handy to have around.

When I saw that tool the first thing I thought was that it's means for putting something by hand into the clamp, then reaching into a hole to place it, then pushing the plunger to release it.

I wish I had the one for exhaust hangers - I had a terrible time with them just a few weeks ago and had to use various prybars.

The first tool had a patent number on it

In short, it is for pulling stuck hydraulic lifters out of their bores.

The first tool is a lifter remover. The pliers are actually battery terminal removal pliers made for the government. The last picture is of an in car valve spring compressor. You would remove spark plugs, insert an air hold fitting to use air pressure to keep the valves from falling in the cylinder, remove the rocker arm, place the bar's hole over the rocker arm stud, use the nut to secure it and compress the valve spring to remove the keepers in order to replace valve stem oil seals. Think old school V8s.
