Napa floor jack OEM and worth it over HF?

Time for me to get a floor jack and I could use some expert advice. I did do a search and couldn't find the answer.

Looking for something ideally better than Harbor Freight but not looking to spend Hein-Warner prices and up.

I am wondering who makes the lower priced NAPA jacks and what your opinion on them is. Rather than a HF jack, I am willing to do the $150-200 but not more. Wondering if they are rebadged Shinn-fu or someone elses?

Very few USA made floor jacks being built these days. And the ones that are made here a VERY expensive. (Compared to China made stuff)

So, my guess is.... the NAPA jacks are probably built in the same factory as the HF jacks. Just a guess though.

You can go with Hein Warner who "remakes" a version of the Lincoln/Walker units. They are USA made (although the company that owns them, Shinn Fu is Chinese).

New or used? I'm not disagreeing with you that the USA made new ones are expensive.....

I haven't been back in a while so IDK if they still sell 'em, but I've had a good experience with the Arcan jack I got from Costco for ~$125 out the door. Its' seen daily shop use for over a year now, and so far so good, so I don't care about its' COO.

But from reading the reviews on Amazon, it appears that these are now only assembled in the US using China-made parts. Probably from the same plant where the NAPA jacks are made. Go over there and read the reviews for yourself to decide (for both the 2 and 3 ton) if it's worth the extra money or not.

I'm just glad I have the 100% American-made Lincoln version that I bought new back in 1984. It's still working perfectly and I expect to be using it until I am too old to be doing auto repair by myself.

Some say they are the same as hf but idk. I couldn't buy a hf jack when I needed a new one. I tryed but just something didn't sit right with me lol whether or not they are the same idk. In my head there different lmao

How did you know that your U-Joint is bad? I am not sure if mine needs one or not.

It broke in half where it pivots. I got one from Wise Tools in FL (part #248731 from what I remember) for about $40 shipped. It's not a bad job to do---you separate the halves enough to sneak out the handle and pivot flange and then screw it in and reassemble. I cracked myself in the head with a prybar trying to squeeze a little more space to slip out the pivot. Had I loosened the bolts just a few turns further, it would have slipped right out (which is exactly what it wound up doing. LOL).

I purchased the $200 NAPA 3.5 ton, steel floor jack 8 years ago. It's a heavy duty jack that meets all of my DIY needs. It is still going strong for all of my light automotive maintenance and repair needs. I do not know who makes it for NAPA (made in China). I would not hesitate to recommend the jack to someone who is willing to spend a bit more than on a HF unit.

The napa jacks are nice units for the price. I've used one extensively. Beyond that you are looking in the ~$500+/- range. Be it hein werner, green Denmark company that I can never recall the name of, or my personal favorite Milwaukee. You might be able to find an older USA walker or the like, but sometimes they are well worn and need quite a bit of service. Some are easy to rebuild, others are a real chore.

In the shop - yes. Still take a floor jack to the track. Occasionally, use a floor jack when the lift is in use or blocked. Also, use my 3 ton on my truck/camper to get the corners onto jack stands since it won't fit on the lift.

"875" prefix Torin Chinese made unit. I bought a set up for my sister about a year or two ago and it was $89. It often goes down to $99 so you might want to wait on that one.

I've still got my old Craftsman Jack stands and Jack from the early 90's. I just saw that while I was walking through to get my $99 Gladiator cabinet and figured I would mention it.

I know this post is a little older, but I love my Napa Jack! It was an investment but well worth it in my opinion. This jack is Napa Part # NLE 7916420.
