I wanted to show off the new 63 Corvette Convertible I just bought. As if it wasn't obvious its a 1970's custom and it has been sitting in a garage for a long long time. Needless to say it needs just a tad bit of work. I bought this to go on the new SRIII C7 frame. We will put the new GM 6.2L LT1 crate motor built for the new C7 Corvette.

nice, I have an early SRIII frame from around 1999 built for C5 running gear. I had them narrow the aluminum suspension frames rather than flare the car. It is a 62. Life and work forced the car into storage but Im finally getting the space to get back into it. I will be watching your build and taking notes. I still have to get the steering, brakes and gas tanks/lines sorted as well as bumper mounts and such, so its got some work left to do. I see their frame has gotten more compact, looks really good. I love their stuff.

Had to subscribe, took me a week to read this. Very cool stuff.
Are you going to do a wide body on the 63? Hard to believe someone neglected one this bad.

Cool man you need to pull it out and knock the dust off of it!!!

Yes we will flare the rear fenders. I wont be able to get the huge wheels on the back but big enough. I have seen them a lot worse than this!

Sorry about that:lol: Hope we keep you entertained!!!

I got my first batch back from anodizing. I sent out the ABS power brake booster as well. I have a set of the Billet Special LS valve covers but looking for more of race look so installed the red MSD coils. I wanted the red coils to match the red wilwood calipers. How you guys like the stainless lines? .;)

Love the brake lines, I was drooling over them last night on Facebook. I've noticed over the years that one thing that sets high-end builders and their creations apart from others is the fact that they all do cool and unique engine covers. I know some people prefer less flash and I am one to appreciate mechanical beauty (witness the brake lines), but seeing a "plain old" engine without dressing equal to the the rest of the car just doesn't seem to work for me. Keep it up!

We will do something to the top but not sure. Nothing too aggressive. Not sure yet.

Looks good
The stainless steel lines and black anodizing looks super clean.
My vote is not to have some huge engine cover. I even think it looks fine the way it is.
I think it's going to turn out nicer than the rendering.
Are you going to blackout the A pillar and front of door frames?

took me three days to read through the whole thread!

Great inspiration! My buddy and I have been working on a 1951 Pro Street Bulletnose Studebaker, for a long, long time. Should be getting paint on within a month!

I know I haven't talked much about the 58 Corvette. We got the frame painted, the under carriage, and the engine compartment. We are putting the car together right now for the mock up stage. I ordered a set of wheels from Boze. The fronts are 18" and the rears are 19". We have dropped the suspension and have a really cool "stance" with the car. What do you think?

Just skimmed through this whole thread and wow what you have done is impressive, but this car right here takes my breath away. Always loved these cars. I actually have chill bumps just seeing this picture. After seeing some of your other work and your attention to detail, I cannot want to see this one finished. I'm excited for you. Good night, I'll prob have dreams about this car for months now. Keep it up!

Thanks I really the stainless and anodizing too. It has been an important theme for me on the car. I thought of a cover but I am agreeing with you it does not need one. It is the reason why I went with the red coils. I am not going to black out the A pillar. The guy who did the rendering added it to the drawing but I don't like it. The window trim will be black and I think it will be enough. Good questions!!

So what is the plans for the second gen Camaro I see in the shop? Love the color of the vette!!

LSA install, Vintage Air, Wilwood Brakes, custom interior, wheels, tires, .....on and on and on.......I need to take some current pictures. :D

Dang that is a lot of reading......I hope you hang around a little! Good luck on your project!!

Amazing work Mark, as usual. I love the brake line work. Fantastic attention to detail.

Lots of money in those lines!!

I think the 58 is a pretty cool project too. It has been moving slow. The owner is pretty busy so we don't get to see him much. Hoping to see it done soon!

Mark, Once again. Beautiful project. The work coming out of your shop is top-notch and you have a great mind for what will look great together. that C-10 is amazing and I can understand enjoying the build more then the final product. I am currently in a holding pattern on my truck since I just built a house and the garage is too small already. lol. It is a family truck, bought new by my dad and built by me and several friends.

here is a shot mid work at my old house

last good shot I have of her leaving the old house and heading to storage.

its a 92 Dakota, v-6 completely rebuilt, bagged with a 4-link bag-on-bar and drop spindles. z-ed front end to lay flat, 20x8 wheels wrapped in 2485/40/20 tires. A ton more going on, but I'm to the point where the truck pisses me off. the day it went to storage was a mad dash to attach as much as we could, get the motor and trans in and move it. that day I found a broken piece in the trans along with a issue locking up the driveline (possibly in the trans too), I bent the rear bag mounts (a second time), and have several leaks throughout the air system that require a lot of disassembly to find.

I guess my question for you is: when you hit these big roadblocks on long-term projects, how to you get moving on them again? I'm just worn out at the thought of fixing it and going backwards. Sorry to clutter your thread up, but I enjoy it so much!

Joe, you are experiencing what every car builder experiences while building a car. There is no reason why we would endure all of the punishment other than for the love of cars. Its a lot of time and a lot of money no matter what level you operate on. Your going to have to buckle down and keep on going.

Thanks for the tour Mark. Looks great.

Ryan.

Your welcome Ryan!

That just screams NASTY!

I think so too.

What ever happened to the 67 International Pickup project ??
Just asking

We jumped back on it just a few weeks ago. I will post some pictures. I bought a new sheet metal bed floor for a 1971 chevy pickup and we replaced the bed floor on the international. What a job it was but it came out awesome. I am looking for a 2006 to 2008 Duramax 2 wheel drive pickup to use as a donor......under 120,000 miles for the motor and transmission.

Wow Mark , thanks for taking the time for the video , almost as good as being there

Ken

I just walked through and took a movie........I will get better at it.

Check it out. I drove the Impala we are doing for the NBA player to boxing tonight..........it was a hit!! No pun intended.;)

Small world at the Delta terminal - I wasn't sure if it was you and didn't want to be a creeper saying I saw your shop on the internet... LOL!

I was the guy wearing a Chevy shirt/Holden Racing hat.

Started work on the Corvette interior this past week. The door panels are build out of a composite material......better than wood. Easier to shape. There is a truss design in the background to match the theme of the car. There will be some LED lighting in the door, a cool aluminum strip, and a real nice door pull. The front area is for the speaker. It will have a press formed billet aluminum grill. The headliner is one piece!! It was a real job but man it looks nice. The treatment in the rear cargo area is going to be out of this world.......but lots of work. Two subs in the back with press formed grills that will match the door speakers.
