Vert: nice Reed as i mentioned when you asked a day or two ago and just curious what you ended up having to pay for it. i'm guessing under $200, but you didn't say.
cheers

Is this a good deal. A guy local has it and would sell it to me for $50
It's a 9300 and he said the front foot on the swivel base is broken off and the jaws are shot
I would t plan on keeping the swivel vise anyways.

TJ: so 500 plus pounds for 2 vises isn't a record, but not many of the vise guys can match or beat that. do you have a couple pictures of yours to post?

How about posting a link to the video?TO ANYONE INTERESTED IS SEEING AN EMMERT MACHINIST VISE IN USE: No subscription necessary. Go to You Tube and search for mrpete222 blacksmith. You’ll find a three part video labeled tubalcain ROAD TRIP to a BLACKSMITH SHOP pts. 1, 2, and 3. Part 3 has a brief segment where the blacksmith named Robert Bergman shows Lyle an Emmert Univeral Machinist vise. Actually, the other two parts are more entertaining but the camera never lingers on the vises around the shop.
If you haven’t heard of mrpete222 or tubalcain or Lyle Peterson let me tell you that they are all the same person. Lyle Peterson has put up hundreds of machine shop related videos on You Tube. Search for mrpete222 machine shop tips. Some of you might find them too basic but I think most of you will enjoy watching. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell he only owns 3 or 4 vises although one of them is an Emmert Pattern vise. One caveat though: If you watch all the videos you’ll hear more about tapping and threading than you ever thought possible.
Thanks Lugnutz! The Emmert vise is at the 15 minute mark of the video.

I gotta get me one of them Emnerts!
mbsinmich and I were at the guy's door at first light this morning. Didn't want to take a chance that someone would beat us to this $20 bargain.

McBrownie: I'm not exactly an early bird. I've simply learned to make use of insomnia.
Fretters: Thanks. It was pleasant taking an early morning drive with my brother - and getting a bargain.
Top: Very nice job on those vises. I started liking the color once my eyes stopped smarting. I never thought about using vises as centerpieces. The holidays are coming up, hmmm.
bagged: Howdy! Maybe if you didn't polish quite so much you'd have more time to watch the You Tubes. Terrific finish!![]()
Haha. Thanks! Once you start, you can't stop!
Be careful Veeps or you'll go blind from all that buffing!![]()
Just picked up this little beauty. 1.5" jaws, $25. Can't wait to get it started.
