I have never had to try before yesterday. I went through all the prompts till I ended up with the one that said to speak to Customer Care. That's when the recording told me that they were closed. Is there a better way to do it?

I had to do it once with the Toro blower a few weeks ago. But it was like 4pm PST. Its actually really simple..it might be #7 but I can't say for sure. Definitely is the "feedback for in-store experience" though.

Long rant ahead.....
Went to Succussuna HD yesterday on lunch and saw the saws for 100.03 came back to work and posted here. Inventory had a store 10 min away with 4. Went to that store after work and they are full price. Ask for the manager and says he could do something for me but won't match the store 10 minutes away. Their computer had them at full price. Gave up stopped at a third home depot on the way home and tried to have them let me buy at their store and take the inventory from the store with them in stock. No luck. So is this worth a call to corporate or an opportunity for a buy & return/resell at a lower priced store.

Same things for the smokers. HD by work has them at full price in stock and all other local HD have them on clearance.

Lastly, the milwaukee hand tools on clearance recently posted. They are .03 at local store except for the one who has them in stock they are .06. FYI the clearance ones are still more expensive than the new ones at .06 status. The reason is the new tool are shite. Did a side by side comparision and the new tools are so thin and cheaply made they wouldn't last a day in my garage.

You're likely SOL other than attempting your luck for a return and rebuy at the stores they are on clearance. :shocking:

Wvrailroader, that's ***** about that manager. Recently I aquired two of the LED flood lights which were way up in the rafters, but could not get to myself. I asked one of the employees, and he got on the ladder for me.

Most employees don't really mind helping but I understand that sometimes we get those store managers who have bad manners or even vendettas against guys just trying to get a good deal.

Stores won't directly price match clearance since as you are observing it varies so much from store to store. With that said, I did have luck returning/rebuying the 41" Husky chest. If you try a return and rebuy, don't ask about it just do it. Buy at the full price store, then try and return it/rebuy it at the clearance store. Maybe they will let you, maybe they won't.

I could be wrong but I don't think you will get anywhere by calling corporate on an issue like this.

Still $148 and$158 at my area stores that have them. Picked up some energizer light at 0.1 and some simple green for .50.The 4 that were there yesterday are gone and the price stickers are gone. You can't tell they were there.

I would like to remind everyone here not to rely on the clearance price tag which might not be up to date. If the item is small enough, just take it to scan (you might be pleasantly surprise) and don't scan the clearance tag but scan the barcode.

Some people have claimed that multiple return/rebuys flagged them in HD's system and they're no longer allowed to return items. So I would ask yourself how bad do you want the item at the cheaper price before attempting a return/rebuy.

I would also not contact corporate about price differences between stores. We all know how screwed up HD's pricing is and it's just part of "the game". Corporate is not going to force a store with $350 chainsaws to sell them to you for $88. All it does is draw attention to the price differences. Enough attention just might have them overhaul how clearance is currently done and no one wants that.

If you want to continue to get great deals just learn the system, be nice to the employees and fly under the radar (don't call corp., don't get into it with managers/employees especially if you're in an area with a limited number of stores). You're not going to get every deal and you'll miss out on your share of stuff, but you're also going to score on occasion (which is more than the average Joe).

So what is the secret on finding these deals? My store rarely has anything marked down and the few clearance items are usually used items or stuff nobody wants.

This.

Only item I returned/rebought was the chest as it was basically the only way to get it.

That's a lot of stuff to be missing.. make sure you check outside in Lawn and Garden for some of the bulky stuff. If there was that much showing, I'd walk EVERY aisle, check every overhead. If it's nowhere to be found, they may be hiding some out back in receiving.

For the outdoor power tools, checking outside is crucial (and something I wouldn't have thought of before this morning). Hit a store this morning that was the only one showing stock of the pressure washers (inv said 1 checking from another store, the stores inventory itself said 2).

Poked around a bit unsuccessfully before asking the lawn and garden guy. He said they had 2 nice ones outside that were reconditioned, but they were gone when he lead me there. He looked around a bit more and said they probably didn't clear inventory when someone bought them yesterday (maybe they were on a generic SKU?).

At any rate, check outside... I didn't even really know HD sold reconditioned tools and I certainly didn't know the recons could show up in inventory counts.

Did get a couple of the 4gal hot water heaters and some of the $0.53 Bessey clamps, so it wasn't a total bust.

This was also the first time i've hit a store early in the morning (about 6:15AM). It was raining and the store was dead, but I did notice all the employees were really nice and seemed genuine. I wonder if they get less accommodating as the day goes on and they're worn out from running around dealing with customers - I know I probably would! ;)

Or just read the thread, like most of us have done. It is not and never will be a simple walk in, walk up to the shelf, grab item and leave with a deal.

Though that does happen on occasion but most of the deals are happening because of the system, or failure of the system. In my personal experience, all of my HD deals have happened because the inventory was up top and never put on the floor. So it was ignored until someone like us walked every inch of the store and found the items up top. Personally I am shocked inventory control is so lacking for anything not in it's assigned shelf location.

What some might miss, many of these folks who are getting the smoking deals, have a bunch of time and effort into getting those deals. Thankfully they share that information with the rest of us.

Some of the posts here almost have a "entitled" feel to them, the clearance is based on individual stores, not HD nationwide. Because one store is discounting a item does not mean every store should honor that price. In many cases it just means that one store is not carrying that product anymore but others will continue to stock it.

Having grown up in retail (family business) and worked retail a few years while in college, I think that is exactly it. The general public is not nice, not friendly and in many cases extremely tiring to deal with on top of whatever management stresses there might be with the job. I always try to be nice even when the employee is not the nicest, they might have dealt with several ill customers over the last few hours.

Fast Food and Retail, thankful I worked in both so I have a understanding of how craptastic those jobs can be at times. Many would benefit from working both of those types of jobs to fully understand the stress of dealing with a generally rude public.

How someone can work the return desk in a place like Home Depot or Walmart, I will never know.

Had a good run today. Found the PB500 in the garden section marked 279.00. Rang up 80.03. One thing I have learned is to never rely on the tags. My store has things penny out that were never even marked on clearance. Does anyone know if the CS-590 chainsaw was discontinued? Doesn't show up online anymore and they had one up top. But the garden center employee was telling me that the blower was still 279 since that's what the tag says so I figured it was time to pay and leave. Found a few other goodies.

Exclusive to walmart but in HD?

Funny thing is Ive seen that exact one at a local HD as well. Honestly thought someone just bought it at Walmart and returned it to HD without receipt, but it seems to be a "regular" item at HD.

When I saw it, the price drop was down to $267, wasnt worth it. At the same time the DC65 was at 150 and the DC41 was at 100.00 which felt like much better deals (bought the 65 for myself and the 41 to resell)

I was super excited last night because I found one of the monster Echo chainsaws at my local store. The one that people are scoring for $65.03! It was the only one they had left and in a kind of out of the way spot and I thought I lucked out.

Took it to Self Check Out and it rang up $399

I got a DC41 that had the "Exclusive for Walmart" on the box but someone had Sharpie'd it out. I thought it might have been someone who bought from Walmart and returned to HD, trying to be slick. Guess not!

Has anybody else seen Bosch laser equipment (measure, cross line, etc...) go on sale?

My store has them on the first tier markdown ex $199 now $149.

Question: how long does it typically take for the next markdown?

Thanks.

Found one of the Nest Protect Smoke Detectors at my local HD for $25.03. Called around to the other two stores that showed stock. The one showing 6 had zero. Apparently they must have grown legs and walked out. The one showing 2 had them for $79. If anyone gets any extras of these I would like to get a few more. PM me if you have any you would like to sell.

Did you check at customer service? They usually stock the Nest products on a shelf at CS.

Has anyone ever seen the price in the HD computer price check app be wrong?
Yes, I had some tool boxes showing for 15.** on the computer, register was 59.**. 30 mins later and a small talk with the manager, price was adjusted to the computer price. [emoji1]

What was the deal with these. Seems like I remember something when I first joined. Same model but different SKU or something for the newer one?

Chamberlain 420ev and 420evp

I guess they are the same.

Each has the same printed sku number sticker 1000005331 stuck in the box.

I thought someone messed up with an old model and put new sticker on it.

They both scanned 158.00 at checkout.

The computer only shows the 420ev under Chamberlain.

It does not show 420evp

When I search the printed sticker item number that is the same on both boxes it brings up the 420ev

I entered the actual bar code numbers on both boxes in the app and they both pull up the 420ev

Mgr must have changed it in the system.

So you buy one model and your receipt will say you bought another. Seems messed up for returns and warranty. What if you try and return at a different store.
