Pipe Flaring Tools

At the moment I have a regular pipe flaring tool, but would like something a little better. Whats the "norm" in tube flaring tools? Is it regular, double flare or bubble flare? Should I go with the SAE or metric or both?

45 or 37 degrees?


Are there any good manufactuers that you suggest? I'm leaning toward OTC

Mastercool (MAS71475) Universal Hydraulic Flaring Tool Set

This will do all the flares you described. For 37 degree AN flares you can buy the MAS71098 adapter and die set to use with the universal flaring tool.

This will also do push connect flares and GM fuel line flares.

I prefer the Parker design for single flares myself. Here's a 37 degree version:

For automotive work, you should only require a 45 degree flaring tool. Some assemblies may require a double flare, in which case an adapter, special cone, or a completely separate tool may be required depending on your choice.

For that kind of money. you are not going to find any thing other than a regular one that just clamps the line with the adapters.

If you are doing any kind of brake work. This is not an area to cut any corners.
