Yes, the 10EE is maybe the best tool room lathe of the 20th century.

No, it's not a project fo a newbie. Some of the several different drive systems were problematic when new.
Maybe, do the homework before gabbing the grocery money and hitching up the trailer.

I never had the opportunity to run a Monarch tool room lathe, but have many, many hours on several different 20" general duty Monarchs and they are really nice machines. We upgraded ours with DROs some years back.

I'm not a monarch guy but that seems like a lot of money for 2 10EE's unless they are really nice with a bunch of accessories. Pretty sure I've seen quite a few in the 2k-3k range.

I was fascinated when I learned about how they use tubes but that is way out of my scope of simple wiring still nice looking machines.

I just talked to the gentleman selling these two lathes, no tooling included. I believe the gray one is the 1956 and still has tubes, the blue one is the 1966 and is vfd drive or vise versa?

The lathes came from Boston, MA.
