i have the clamp for the wires coming into the box, i plan on fixing it when i get a chance i wanted to get power out to box for the night so my dusk to dawn light would be on for tonight, still have some finishing up to do, i had to come in on the lower corner of the main panel box with the 2-2-2-4 the top corner where i had planned to come in at had too many wires to get the cable through. only problem i have is when i flipped the breakers for the outlet circuits the GFCI on both circuits trip, I'm going to look everything over tomorrow I'm thinking its the GFCI themselves.

Every GFCI outlet I put in trips the first time I flip on the breaker. I reset it and its good. Not sure why it trips. It never trips other times I turn off and on the breaker, only the firs time. Maybe it is something from the manufacturer.

Nice job getting your sub panel in.

So is the sub panel supposed to be run off a breaker in the main panel? The sub panel in my shop gets its power from the meter just like the house panel. is this ok or does it need to be changed? The whole shop needs to be redone, it was never done correctly from the start.

That's a loaded question, but providing power to the shop either way is okay if done correctly.

Yeah no kidding.

It shouldve been in conduit.

Hard to tell but looks like theres no clamp or guard to keep the wire from getting sliced.

Nasty is all I can say, who knows, maybe in a few years those panels may be in a thread in a home inspection forum. :D

I like threads like this.

Where the OP makes lots of missteps on the way to a complete job.

And thanks to those who point out every little error and omission.

I learn from every one!

There is clamps on the wires going into the box, I had planned on running the conduit straight into the panel but where I wanted to go in at the top right corner was filled with wires so I had to use single holes. everything else is in conduit the whole way except a foot where it goes into the main panel

Get a knockout set and make your own.

To make things easier, u could use FMC/greenfield from the PVC to the panel.

Which set of wires is fed from the panel? Wires from the panel need to be wired to the line side and any outlets being protected by the GFCI need to be fed from the load side.

All the GFCIs I have dealt with will trip and not reset if power is fed to the load side.

You can't run the single conductors of your garage feeder thru individual holes/connectors into your panel.

They must ALL go though one knockout. You will get inductive heating of the metal enclosure and/or a choke effect on the conductor.

Yup.

Another thing that needs to be fixed.
