Saw this earlier today on Craigslist.

This guy says he's got over 100 of these boxes of tools and hardware for sale at $5 a box or 5 boxes for $20.

It's a good deal, but I'd ask him if I could mix and match. A lot of times, there's junk at the bottom, but for $5 a box, even if you got 3 or 4 good tools, you're ahead.

I once bought some GM shop manuals like this. I asked the guy if I could have the crate and mix and match what I could fit into a crate. He agreed and I got everything for $30. I flipped it the next week and one book netted me over $100. Money well spent.

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. He said the stuff is not all boxed yet which should work in my favor.

So I bought like 4 or 5 boxes. Not even sure what's in them yet but I know there are some taps that are new and I think there is a box that almost completely American made wrenches.

The best score though was the guy said "I have a bucket full of files but they don't have any handles". So he pulls out a 5 gallon pail filled with NEW old files most of which are sealed in original packaging! I bought a bunch of those for 10 bucks. I think they are all Nicholson.

Maybe, but you will probably have to sift through a lot of ****. There is an auction company here that has a nasty habit of sprinkling one or two high quality pieces in a box of other misc. Went to one this past weekend where they had a pair of snap on needle nose in one box, hammer in another, few sockets here, rest of the sockets there.

If it's local, maybe go look, but unless you have tons of space and ambition to sort good luck.

Sounds like you got a good deal on the files.

I would have been all over that and taken everything he had.

Then again I have the time and space to go through it all and pick out the gems and pass the **** along.

Believe me, I wanted to. My first problem was that I didn't have a truck. The other problem is I still have boxes of tools I have to sort from the last awesome Craigslist deal I got. If I bought all that and my wife found out, I'd be sleeping with those tools in the garage!

Around here you could sell the empty wood crates for more than $ 5.00. Good score on the files, too.

Like some others have said I too would have been all over those boxes. Funny story but maybe back in Sept. some guy was trying to sell a stack of heavy used and rusted wire wheels so I paid his asking price and he was so surprised anyone in their right mind would have even bought them. Now n Oct. I am using them and they are holding up fine no problems; You never know what deals lay ahead.

So you were the other guy that was there earlier! I came home with 11... half junk, half decent stuff, few gems.

The boxes alone are worth $5 as previously mentioned. Spend a few nights sleeping with the tools and turn a profit on what you don't want and take your wife somewhere for dinner! Then everyone is happy (in the end)!

Well I'll be the first to say since no one else has, YOU ****! It does me no good to even bother scanning my Craigslist. Either worthless **** being priced at high prices, or good **** priced more than new. There are very rare occasions a deal can be found. Don't believe me? Look at the Eastern Kentucky end of craigslist.

Ha! That's funny. I took what I thought were the best looking ones. I wanted more, but didn't want to wreck the suspension in my car!

I told the guy to text me when he gets the rest of the stuff unloaded from the shed or trailer he's cleaning out but it didn't seem like he was in a real hurry to do that.

I will take some photos soon. Honestly, I have not had a chance to go through the stuff yet.
