Just wondering if using a 1/2" 4x8 sheet of melamine would be acceptable for mounting an electric boiler in a garage.
I was originally planning on just using a plywood sheet but thought that using the melamine sheet would save me the step of having to paint it.

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't. If the particle board core ever gets wet, it could fail. Plywood would be much stronger in the same thickness.

I don't know about Canada but a 4 x 8 ft. melamine board down here would be big money. $$$$$$$ I would buy a 2' x 2' x 3/4 " thick plywood from a big box store and paint it. JMO
