Fail... So I get there to try to purchase the blower and first thing I see in garden section was the Honda Press washer, had a repair tag on it for $220, which naturally distracted me, I went to the serv desk tried to get them to honor the actual sku number, no dice, then they call this B of a manager over and she is just rude as hell and states that since the skus are different she can't sell it to me with the old (regular) sku.
So... Swing and a miss... so then I get to the blower and try to take it to SCO, employee tries to help, cant figure it out and calls the manager over... the same one, she said that there was a $240 tag on it this morning and that is the price, wouldn't even try to ring it up... swing and a miss...
I did successfully get the repair tag off the press washer though last night when they were originally trying to find a price for so I went early this morning... different people and manager... same story, even with no tag on it they wouldn't look up the model and check the price... so I struck out. This HD is by far the hardest to deal with.

BTW, the toolboxes are still full price in all the stores I've been to in SC.

Call corporate and tell them that they are not using the correct SKU on the item, and the item should be a penny but they are not selling it to you for a penny. Tell them they are using a generic SKU.

Worked for me last time, but I paid for "last clearance price" on a generic SKU, then called corporate afterwards and got the whole thing refunded with a gift card.

CS-330T I bought this weekend, had a repair tag on it for $180 with a generic "repair saw" SKU. I went to a regular register because I knew I was going to have issues. Lady scanned it and said $180. I said no no, this saw is on clearance for $65.03. She gets on the phone calls a few people, then signals a manager walking by. I explain that I know for a fact this saw is on clearance and that if we walk over to a computer I can show him. So he I walk him over to the pro desk, and open the SKU in the price check app and says you're right so we went back, and they honored the price adjustment and off I went.

If they wouldn't look up the model and check the price on the washer this morning, what were they trying to sell it to you for? I would have walked them over to a computer and pulled up the SKU.

They couldn't sell it to me because they had to find the right repair tag price and they don't like the original sku, I've given it to them both times but they said they can't because its a repaired item, the problem with bringing it up there and just trying to get them to look it up is that it's chained to the rest of the "repaired" press washers... almost to much of a hassle.

I will try this for the blower, there was no tag on it this morning when i went still but I really wanted to work on the press washer because that I actually need ;) Maybe I will try at lunch to secure the blower, but I think the press washer is a lost cause, unless I get that super cool manager... lol, which is not likely, at least at this store.

Like I said, you could pay the $220 then call corporate in the parking lot right after you walk out, explain that the item should be $29, you explained that to the manager and they refused to sell it to you for $29 under the correct SKU number, and that they sold it to you under a generic SKU.

Just to be sure, it was the Honda model right? Not the other Homelite model?

Too much hassle to score a $29 pressure washer. Don't tell me you are one of "those" guys...

I don't know what a "those" guy is but prolly not. I am def done with the press washer and probably that particular store for a while. There are still 4 press washers in inventory in another store close by... but are in a void somewhere because I can't find em. :D

You're best bet is to call HD and explain the situation. I'm sure they will help you out.

I have had a similar problem with the pressure washer. Store computer showed 2 in stock, GM helped me look and was pretty nice. He did tell me that if we find them that he would take the other at that price which made me suspicious. Get to the garden section and they had a refurb of same model $199 without wand or tips and kind of beat up. He told me that that one wouldn't count since it was recon. Never found the new ones. Went back 2 weeks later to try and buy the recon again and went through several different people. Garden manager went and spoke to the GM and came back and said that some guy had already tried this and it wasn't going to work this time either. Was pretty hateful.

Wow great thread. Tried this for the first time in Sevierville TN. Found two pfister ashvilles. Had to get an employee to get it from rafters. Employee scanned it, came up as a penny, and he tried unsuccessfully to tear it from my clutches. Was told immediately I cannot buy it. He then got a manager who looked at it, and made a call to another manager who confirmed I cannot buy it. As this was happening i walked up ladder to get the second one and hid it. I tried checking out with it but it ran up as a penny, cashier was astonished and called manager who said no do not sell it. I called corporate and they contacted store, who had them waiting for me at customer service, for a penny. Staff very rude all around. Was also kicked off store computer in windows and doors section and told was not allowed to use to look for clearance items. Also followed out of complex by security.

What a bunch of idiots.

It amazes me they would rather the inventory sit idle at an outrageuos price compared to selling it at the store's published 'new' price. Makes you wonder how some of these folks actualy made it to the manager level. Not saying it's an easy job at all, but my outside looking in perspective is they could easily do a much better job.

Especially the used shape and missing parts. I waited 2 weeks to go back so they would realize that it wouldn't sell for that. I have spent thousands on regular priced items there this year and they now treat me like a thief and scammer for asking. I could have ripped the tag off and used the model number to ring it up. What I get for being honest.

Hey everyone, I've been lurking for awhile now but haven't posted yet. I have not been lucky in finding any deals in my area. So I haven't had much to add to the discussion. I am hoping to find some deals that are actually in my area to share with everyone.

Anyway I decided to go to a store across town that I've never been to to search for some items for the new house we are buying. So I get to the store looked around for a public computer and found none at this store. I ask at the service desk if I could use a computer to look up somethings, sure no problem you can use one here at the service desk. So I look up the pressure washer shows one in stock, nowhere to be found. Look up the Nest shows 4 in stock at 25.03, great! That's what I was really wanting, I ask the girl if she will get them for me, no problem. She gets them and they ring up full price, I tell her that's not right they are in your system at clearance price. She asks where so I show her on the PC they let me use right next to her. She says how did you find this? I tell her I looked it up and found the price. So she calls another guy over and he verifies on his handheld that the price was 25.03. She then say to the guy well he must have hacked our system this price can't be right. WTH? :wtf:

Long story short I didn't get the items I was after. So the search continues...

I wouldn't be showing people in the store how your using the computer... Seems a tad stupid and a good way for HD to shut it down via computer.

I didn't know that was an issue since I've had two different employees in two different stores show me how to get to the price check app in the store. I didn't ask they volunteered to show me the app. Also I didn't have it filtered for clearance only items, I just had nest pulled up as a search.

It really shouldn't matter. I'd have to imagine home depot knows fully well what people are doing and how they are doing it. These threads are public and this isn't the only one out there. Plenty at other sites as well. Im sure eventually things will change but probably more from people being a pain and mean versus showing somebody how to use their own computer.

Sorry I thought it was in my info. Columbus Ohio she refused to sell them but did offer me 10% off full price. I didn't have any more time to argue, I had to go pick up my son and was out of time. I was thinking about contacting HD corporate and see what they would do.

Moral of the story, wheel the ladder over and get it down yourself until someone says you aren't allowed to do so.

Could have bought them at last clearance price then called corporate and they would have likely refunded you.

This is pretty common. Stores don't match clearance, and a return/rebuy is very dependent on the cashier/manager you get and the mood they are in.

This might be frowned upon if anything every happened and you were caught doing this. Theoretically, you could be using a barcode to a .50 item to purchase a drill set etc.

I suppose your right. Never really thought of it that way. Of course I would never use the printed barcode for the actual purchase but just make sure it was a penny before I went to buy it. For instance I found 3 of the 41" husky tool chests in the bay. It has the correct sku but it is showing up full price in the price check app on the computers in store. I don't want to have someone bring them down just to see if the price is wrong in the computer. I guess I'll have to figure something out. However, I did score 2 clearance vanities for $80 for both. They were clearanced to 62.03 but the floor manager gave me $50 off one to get them both out of there. Going to sell the sink inserts and get a granite slab and make a sideboard (bar) for the dinning room.

I work in IT, so I'd be like "show me the logs were a non-elavated privledge account modified your database and changed this price" I feel for ya though, I sat on a computer and pulled up 4 items with between them all 11 individual items 4 press washers, 4 pb500t blowers, 2 brinkmann dual gas/charcoal grills and a 330T chainsaw and I/they couldn't find a single item...

Don't forget the ebay/paypal fees of 15%. That is $30 on a $200 item. You won't see that fee till the end of the month.

This is why I havent used Ebay as a primary selling spot. Ill use their completed listings for pricing info, but to make a good profit on Ebay you have to fight big Ebay sellers with lots of inventory and presumably hefty shipping discounts

Look at all the chainsaws, vacuums and leaf blowers that are "free shipping" on Ebay, then figure out how you are supposed to offer shipping for free when it can potentially cost you $50.00

I thought the actual fees after the fact are 10% final value fee from Ebay and 2.9% transaction fee from PayPal, but I could be wrong. Still, its another 13% which really adds up when we are trying to sell at 200.00 item.

Oddly enough, the store where I bought my two 41" Husky boxes from has reverted back to 498 pricing (I paid 132). They now list 0 in stock. Sort of wondering if it reverted back just BECAUSE they now have none in stock.

I've wondered this myself but in the other direction, so the items sometimes go to different clearance levels based on stock on hand in comp. But im a noob with all this stuff so idk :dunno:

You can get 10% off pretty easy by asking.

Just got back from a store I hadn't been to yet. They had 2 CS-590s and 2 CS-490s. Both rung up full price.
Weird thing was the CS-490 had a tag by the price on the shelf that said NEW! (like a new model) I looked at the box and someone had written NEW on the box in sharpie. I checked the Model number, the SKU, and the UPC and it's definitely the same saw that you guys are finding. Frustrated.

We received the copy of your receipt. Unfortunately this unit was discounted because of the missing parts. This unit retails at $349.99 therefore we would not be able to send out the missing parts. We recommend taking that unit to an ECHO dealer to install the fuel lines. Parts can be purchased through an ECHO dealer or the ECHO website, https://www1.gardnerinc.com/echo/.

If you have any other questions, please update your incident and we will be happy to assist you. Our representatives are available Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Central Standard Time.

Sincerely,
Dianna
ECHO Consumer Support Dept.

So that happened. I was missing the fuel line, cap, and throttle control clamp bolt. Opened a live chat box and explained to them the reason it was cheap was because it was on clearance, not because of the missing pieces. They are sending the bolt and the cap through the mail "out of good will" but will not send the fuel line because it should installed by a dealer "for safety reasons" The fuel line kit is 21 bucks, I'll prolly just buy some from ace and install it. I know most people have had success from echo, maybe they are getting sick of hearing about the 500t? :dunno:

Only some stores seem to be clearancing them.

Around here, every store that lists 2 or more in inventory seems to have them there on purpose and they are at regular price.

Every store that has 0 or 1 listed in inventory has them clearance priced, but good luck finding them.

I noticed this the other day as well. Good deal if you have a fence to build. Poles were down to 2.** or 3.** IIRC.

My store had a rack of beat up returned OPE they are asking way too much for.
They have Ryobi trimmers that say retailed for $99 but are missing the battery and charger and are asking $79. The battery alone is 40 bucks!!
