Ouch, that sux.

FWIW, I only used my Home Depot credit card. And even without the receipt, just have them swipe the card and attempt to process the return. If its on the card and returnable (i.e. within 90 days), it gets creditted right back to the card.

I "used" this promo so many times that way they definitely wont blacklist you even without receipt, as long as you can give them the card you put it on.

Yeah, After doing it a few times with store credit (and realizing that it could become a problem), I started using only my personal credit card so that they could look it up. After doing this deal, about a month later I made a return on store credit (a $30 item), and it blacklisted me. After waiting the 90 days and Customer Care looked into me so that they could take me off the list, I had accumulated over $30k in returns this year, ALL due to this deal LOL. They freaked out at that (even though I had receipts and they were all legit purchases) and I'm stuck in blacklist-limbo.

From now on, I use nothing besides a credit card at HD

Thats pretty cool!

Im not invested in DeWalt batteries, though. Seems to be an excellent form factor...as much as I love my Bosch radio it sure is heavy and awkward to move around.

As a Diy'er looking to upgrade from a Ryobi combo set I've been waiting for a deal like this. Do you guys have a suggestion between DeWalt or Rigid or is it mostly personal preference? I talked to a guy at HD the other day and he suggested that DeWalt is more geared towards contractors and individuals that use their drill daily which sounded a little fishy to me. Thanks in advance for any advice.

No, all you did was get lucky with the 20% off coupons from HF when the vast majority of Home Depots across the nation did not accept them.

One of my HDs took an HF coupon ONCE and that was it.

Luckily I could see that coming so I made sure to use it on something big (generator)

The only thing I have against Rigid is you can only buy it from HD.......you can buy Milwaukee or DeWalt from most any one.

My personal preference would be:

Milwaukee
Makita
Ridgid
Dewalt
Ryobi

In that order, personally I wound up with Makita due to some great clearance deals at HD. I also have a bunch of Ryobi batteries I still need to get tools to compliment.

Im thinking of doing this Makita set instead of the Milwaukee fuel 12V. Am I crazy for doing that?

No, and if all you need are the drill/driver I would personally consider the Ridgid 12v set, they can be found around $100 and come with one extended battery. A lot of bang for the buck.

Also the Makita is only a 3/8" drill where the Milwaukee is a 1/2" chuck.

With that being said take a look at all the m12 tools Milwaukee offers and make sure you won't want any of those other tools.

I'm not sure I could live (being dramatic here) without my m12 3/8" ratchet and fuel impact wrench. So handy for working on the car. The m12 grease gun is on my to do list also.

Does HD run this promo fairly often? I have exactly zero Milwaukee tools, but I'm confident I want to build a collection of M12 and M18. Figured I'd start with the new generation hammer drill and impact combo, but if this is a fairly uncommon sale, I'd maybe look at the impact wrench, reciprocating saw, circular saw, etc...

I could be wrong but last year was around this time/black friday. You want to get the deal ASAP because they do run out of small items online that qualify for the 150$ off.

Agree with 77Ford. I've had good success in numerous stores using a HF 20% coupon, as well as the 50% Ace Hardware coupon last Black Friday week. You just have to know how to sweet talk them and avoid managers/full-timers.

Charm for sure. 77Ford sent me 10 of those DS400 boxes and 10 of the DS150's for a penny plus shipping. Maybe you just need to be kinder to the hand that feeds you....

No, they just flat out don't accept them in this area... plain and simple.

And from reading others on here, the majority elsewhere couldn't get them to accept either. Now it seems even rarer as well.

I wish they have some other kit for the main selection rather than hammer drill and m18 driver, maybe put the m12 driver and impact wrench kits, the main kit must be their worse sellers and I would not want to pay $399 before discounts ..

Also you say I could return the item. Which let me get a baretool for like 25% off msrp.
But I have to pay tax around 10%. And $10 gas to drive to Home Depot to return the main kit. Lining up there is always a guy returning a toilet and 30 baseboards in front of me.

Net saving of $20 of my baretool and an hour of time. Maybe I am not seeing this right but I would rather order from toolbarn or northern tool with a 10% or $$ off code and no tax.

The m12 regular driver works fine IMO and I got it on Black Friday for cheap
It will punch the screw right through or crack the wood. If I need more power to drive 3" lags then the m18 fuel impact 3/8 drive wrench and sockets comes out. Though torx construction lags are changing the game for how we use drivers. But m18 driving deck screws is too heavy and overkill

umm well I have around $290 into the main fuel kit and m12 power source.

sell the power source for 30$ then I have $260 for a fuel drill and driver, two 5.0ah batteries, charger and a case. Not a bad deal. :headscrat

Hmm. Going to see if this works on the new m18 lights. Specifically the work light with extendable stand.

Edit. It works, but the stand light 2130-20 is out of stock. Dang!

M12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Drill Driver/Impact Combo Kit (2-Tool) with M12 Cordless 3/8 in. Ratchet (Tool Only)

I've been wanting the M12 cordless ratchet for a while, and this kit at $169 may just have me pulling the trigger. The drill & impact look like they'll pull ~$40 each on eBay, which is fine, since I don't need them. A net of about $90 for the ratchet, charger and 2 batteries seems damn good, since I've rarely seen the ratchet on sale.

Is there any way to take advantage of the current promos to make it an even better deal?

I cant get the promo to apply on the web. Similar issues showed up last year IIRC....not sure if you can have them credit you after the fact or if maybe that special deal combo really isnt eligible.

Theses are the numbers associated with the kit:
Model # 2494-22-2457-20
Internet # 206512080

It's a "Special Buy", which is bet is excluded from the combo savings.

Am I understanding this deal correctly?
Dewalt kit $369
Fuel impact bare tool $199. Total is $568-$150= $418. Then I return the kit for $369 and I will only be in the Fuel impact for $49?

I just checked HD on my phone and didn't see this coupon. Maybe it will show on my laptop.

Anyways I'm looking to get an M18 drill/impact to replace an old Hitachi POS. Is this deal "good" for getting a two tool set? I see a lot of guys doing returns in order for discounts on a bare tool. I don't need to do that, so that's why I'm asking. If so, what SKU or product ID should I look for?

Although at some point I'd like a 3/8" Ratchet. Thanks for the help.

If u keeping the drill/impact, I would try to pick another item that is cheapest so more discount is applied toward the drill/impact given you will return the cheap item.

Purchase the M12 power source with whatever kit you are wanting in order to maximize savings on the 2 tool kit. Then return the power source.

Based on how HD's system handles returns, there shouldn't be any changes. They run BOGO deals on different tools all throughout the year, and the way to distribute the discount between the 2 items is always the same.

Someone explain to me the gen 1 and gen 2 m18 kit
I know the hammer drill had more torque etc is it worth $100 extra?
I also think the cheaper kit maybe 4.0 battery instead of 5.0?

Like how many holes do you expect one can drill on the m18 charged up for 4" concrete slab 3" anchor depth?

No real world experience to answer your last question, but the differences in the two kits on paper:

Gen 1
Hammer drill - 725 in-lbs, 1850 RPM max
Impact driver - 1600 in-lbs, 3 modes
(2) 4.0 AH batteries

Gen 2
Hammer drill - 1200 in-lbs , 2000 RPM max
Impact driver - 1800 in-lbs, 4 modes
(2) 5.0 AH batteries

The Gen 2 stuff is also a little shorter front to back. I'd assume they're also a bit lighter but haven't found weights to compare.
