What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Last night I got home from work and had about an hour before the wife got home and we could go to our Jeep club meeting, it was also garbage night so I blew the leaves (neighbors leaves I might add) into a pile and disposed of them cleaning the back lawn off.

Brought home a new project for this winter, a 1978 Polaris TX340 free air. Bought new in 79 by my dad. Will be stripping it down and going through everything
Starting moving stuff around in the garage, making room for a newly acquired oil-burning forced air furnace, to replace the wood stove.. While cleaning, I found this under a pile of stuff. Been a year or 2 since its seen the light of day

That is great. That is the best way to spend time in the shop. That is what they remember as they age and then they want to be in the shop "playing" with dad even more.
This is how my son and I play in the shop nowadays that he is older and it is freakin' awesome.

Thanks, I'm glad I have the opportunity to do so. Dad doesn't really care about the sled anymore, but I think it's awesome it has been in the family all this time. Put quite a few miles on it growing up too. Plus, you just don't see them around anymore.

Replaced the driver's side front fender liner on my wife's DD.
The old liner had come loose, I heard it rubbing and looked at it. It wasn't wearing away (yet) and appeared serviceable so I presumed it had to be very recent. We were moving house later in the week but she was getting new tires prior to the move so I told her to ask the tire store if they could re-attach it while they had the wheel off. When she got home from buying her tires I asked about it and she said they must have re-attached it because it wasn't rubbing anymore. I didn't look at it because I had a lot of other things to do and I forgot about it. Fast forward to long after our move, I was rotating the tires on the wife's car and was surprised to see that rather than re-attaching the fender liner, whoever did the job had just cut it nearly in half and removed the loose front portion. They didn't even unscrew the front clips, just cut the liner free there as well.

We are in the midst of a move so, first things first
Began setting up my detached 2 cr garage for my new shop. Hung some cabinets, framed out bathroom plumbing and began construction of new work bench. Bolted down vice and drill press

Got to play with my lathe. A coworker who restored loom making or rug making machines(I don't know the proper term) needed this part fixed. He also makes rugs himself. The spindle on this piece rides on a piece of maple and you can see it got worn after many years of use. He wanted it just smoothed out but I suggested we sleeve it to make it the same diameter.
You can see it looks like someone was chewing on it. Lol. The original diameter seemed to be 7/8"

He bought this bushing which is 7/8" OD and 5/8" ID.

I turned the spindle down to slightly larger than 5/8"

Then I warmed up the bushing in the oven and pressed it on. Then just squared off the end and smoothed it out.

But did you notice the original part is "Made in Canada"?

Cleaned all the parts of my Scrambler project, except the motor, and did a fair bit of modding. I cut and remodeled the rear fender, cleaned the front fender and resanded it, sanded and primed the tank, welded the frame and swingarm bits and have the frame ready for primer tomorrow.

Main spring failed on my garage door... after 16 years of constant use. Got it replaced. And replaced the drive gear on my door opener motor (LiftMaster).

i used to own a small twin rancher in Phila that had the garage under the front. One night, while I was falling asleep, the spring broke on my door. Scared the hell out of me and took me a while to figure out what was going on!

I drive mine ('87 LX Hatch) and leave it in the sun for a while after I wash it. I'm thinking that otherwise, the water sits in all the wrong places and rots things out.

I moved and reorganized two 30x72 cabinets. I can now repair the tape seams. This is my last garage wall, then primer.
The project is taking me a lot longer due to health reasons.

I bought 5 more Feit LED light fixtures from Costco and put the boxes in the garage.
I got some modifications to do on these lights as I will not be plugging them into switched outlets. Oh, cost me $5 less than when I bought them last December.
Who'd a thunk these would still be available and cheaper... almost a year later?!?!
BTW...I think these "Sunlite" like lamps are the best!

Hang in there, i had a bad fall skiing last year and was off work for 2 1/2 months, first they thought rotator cuff but mri revealed a bad sprain and bicep injury. I know all too well the feeling! Just remember to take it slow and do all you can to recover properly.
Got the freshly rebuilt Fox Shock mounted and roughly dialed in for preload. Will have a friend help me measure sag with me on it tomorrow. Need to come up with a way to mount the reservoir.
Also go the last of the window sill trim mounted and the window trim cut to size. Will be painting the trim tomorrow.

Cleaned the plug, filter and carb on my stihl string trimmer since it wouldn't start yesterday. Stuck the compression tool on it and after two pulls it's only at 65psi so it's probably nearing it's last leg, but it still started and trimmed my yard for (hopefully) the last time this year. It won't idle anymore but as long as you hold it at full throttle it will run.
Sharpened blades for the riding mower.
Tried to track down the source behind the studder at 3000rpm at 3/4-full throttle in my C5, but didn't have much luck there. Got tired of fooling with it about dark, popped the top on an ice cold bud light and listened to the radio while I cleaned up.

Finished air lines except for the hose reel, mounted tool post on the big lathe, and of course CLEANED some more. Have a helper coming this afternoon and we'll see if we can level the big lathe, 8,000 lbs and 15 ft long.

I found that my forklift is leaking transmission fluid. Now, I need to pull the engine and trans to fix it. The hard part will be removing the counterweight. If I only had another forklift, it would be easy.
