Last night, wearing a headlamp, I ran 12/2 from the breaker out to the carport so I can get some lights out there. Then I tore into the wall switches, wiring a new box & another switch into the cluge that was a two-switch box with 5 12/2 pairs going in. New breaker wired in... just need to go buy some lights & hang them and I'll (finally) be able to see in the dark out there.

T-anything is fluorescent. LED - Light emitting diode. t-12 < t-8 < t-5 < LED for efficiency

I went with T-5's (because the LED tubes were godawful expensive back then) and it made the difference between the bottom of a mine shaft dark to damn near daylight bright in there. Plus the T-5's (and the LED's) will fire off when it's cold out there (sub-32) where the t-8's struggled to pop and the T-12's just sat there laughing at me with their cold, dark hearts of unlight.

Serviced the little 4HP Arien's Snowblower I bought a few weeks ago that now wouldn't start. Replaced the fuel line, added a fuel shutoff valve, cleaned the gas tank, gave it a quick carb cleanup and changed the oil. A little gas with Seafoam and it now starts on the first pull.

Built a simple replacement riser for LOML's jewelry sale display setup - she makes jewelry and has a show this weekend. Riser #1 is in her studio buried under supplies - so it was easier to build #2 than dig out the #1. Nothing fancy - just some plywood kreg screwed together.

Cheers

Jim

OK, so I managed to wedge out the float valve seats, but I didn't have new ones, or any shaft seals. None the less, I cleaned the carbs as best I could. I am nowhere near starting the bike, and even when I am, I will have plenty of time to get the carb pieces.

SO, I cleaned up all the parts, powder coated the top and bottoms of the cabs, and the attaching hardware, added stainless hardware and loosely reassembled them. I didn't want to leave them in pieces because I would surely lose them. I lubed everything lightly to prevent corrosion.

Photos of the cleaning and assembly.

Those carb pieces turned out great Jim. I would love to have a small powder coating system in my shop as well as an anodizing station but just not enough stinkin' room. I'm bustin' at the seams as it.

Last night I cleaned up a few things from the weekends work and waited for a client to drop off their 2003 Mazda 6 so I could work on it tonight. This way I don't have to stick my hands down in a hot engine bay.:eyecrazy:

Thanks, not bad for a few hours work. Certainly not show quality, but clean and functional.

My 20X20 garage is overstuffed as well. I'm not sure how I manage to have any room left at all. :lol_hitti

Wow Jim. I thought your shop was larger than that. I didn't realize it was only 20x20. You have it set up very nice and it looks larger than that.

Nasty day out, and I had to work, so I did this after work. A little Carbon Fiber Wrap. I started with the small piece to see if I could do it:

Not pro quality, but looks decent, so I did another:

Still not bad, so one more:

I'm totally satisfied. It isn't perfect, but definitely good enough.

Next, the big silver panels:

Hopefully tomorrow.

Ruin a Honda CT90 Hub, shatter a fluorescent bulb, clean up said bulb and fix hub. Make a list of things I need or am missing: 5/32 allen key, 1/2 chuck, 1/4" X12" bar stock. Went down to town hall to see about installing some fixtures, then to Home Depot to look at some fixtures, pick up anything I needed. Lastly I was working on my kart.

Brought my drill press home from dads and worked on truck lighting. Replaced drl's with led bulbs, put diodes in from the high to low then low to fog, pulled truck out of the garage and they all quit working. Might have bumped the diodes putting the box back in, not sure why my courtesy lights aren't staying on when I unlock it.

I changed the coolant in my 2008 Prius. A real pain in the but to get the air out of the system.
Next I am going to change the inverter antifreeze. BOTH ARE OVERDUE.

Worked with son to repair his pit bike.

He tested and found he had no spark.
He changed the spark plug - no joy.
He changed the coil - and got spark.

He was quite proud of his progress.

That is awesome!!! That smile is something you will never forget. He will also remember it spending time with pop in the garage/shop.

Had the day off. Weather sucked. Rain almost all day and now mist. So no steel roof work. Instead I sawed up a bunch of clean scrap lumber into 1/2" thick boards to make stars for magic wands. Chopped the unusable bits into firewood. Collected about 20 gals of sawdust from today's project. The kid had to shove the chunks into the woodshed piece by piece it's so full. I still have three bushels of scrap staged and another one by the fireplace.

Left for a Veteran's Day bike ride. Returned from a bike ride. Trued a bicycle wheel, again. For probably the 4th time in a month. I'll be tossing the rims in January and building on the same hubs again.

Swept the floor of the garage. Half-way, anyway, as the Christmas cardboard is starting to creep in.

The side panels were a LOT harder, but I think they came out pretty good. The bike, to me, looks a hell of a lot better. I never liked the silver side panels!

Took apart the burner motor for the fuel oil furnace in the house. Sounded like the bearings were getting noisy and that was confirmed by the HVAC neighbor. He mentioned about getting a new motor but I took it apart to see if the bearings could be cleaned and oiled.

Needless to say, I found some Sharpie marks were I must have tried it before and to no avail. I did find the bearing numbers, 6202Z, which I believe I might be able to get at Fastenal. It'll be cheaper to press on/off bearings rather than putting a new motor in it.

If you cant get them at Fastenal, Amazon has them cheap

I don't have a picture of it from today but I needed to take my truck outer front fenders to the blaster for stripping so I can drop them off at the painter when they're done.
Here's the day in July I pulled the dog house off. It's been sitting on my patio til today. I broke as many 60 year old bolts as I loosened. Tough job single handed but I'm stubborn and cursed a few of them off!

Start of day:

End of that day:

Amazing how much engine room there is in those old pickups.

--

picked today while my US and service flags were flying to whip up a proper flag stand out of some old salvaged cedar planking. I had meant the pole holes to be round, but could not find my cove bits. Improvised, adapted, overcame. And the resulting weird-shaped holes add some visual interest, so 'eh'

Pulled out half the junk littering the garage. Removed some really crappy cabinets the previous owner installed. Painted the entire back wall. Moved two workbenches and my toolboxes against the newly painted walls. Decided that about half the stuff I had pulled out of the garage was trash so it stayed in the driveway when I moved everything back.

Hopefully soon my garage will be clean and functional again. It's been a wreck for the last couple of years.
