Hey guys, we've been finding a number of one off Ebay auctions lately that are great deals for another GJ member or sometimes large stock clearance Ebay deals that many can take advantage of. Everyone is free to post a separate thread on anything they want to, but thought it would be nice to have a permathread for these kind of deals where people can post them and talk about them, etc., and quickly see the latest this way, like the Amazon deals thread we now have. Here is one I found today:

SK 1/2 drive SAE Shallow Impact Set, currently $30 plus shipping. Used but looks real nice. Someone should get these!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/S-K-Impact-Socket-Set-/261714686590?pt=US_Hand_Tools&hash=item3cef69327e

Was doing some ebay browsing on Bahco sockets. In the 90's, Williams made Kobalt USA sockets for awhile. They also made Bahco sets too. Sometimes you can find the Williams made US Kobalt tools out there much cheaper than real Williams and the same applies for the Bahco. I'm not sure if the Bahco rachet was made by Willams or not below - could use help on that one. But the sockets all should be the same as the Kobalt Williams. SAE sets here:

This one is a single auction, but noticed the fellow has been doing it a few weeks each week:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/19pc-BAHCO-...84659834?pt=US_Hand_Tools&hash=item4631e2d47a

This one includes ratchet and extensions too:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-BAHCO-b...333?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ed9f33ced

Here is just a 3/8 shallow set but cheap:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BAHCO-3-8-D...1581438340&pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr

And here's a similar 1/2 SAE set with ratchet:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-BAHCO-b...324?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ed888180c

And here's a 3/8 deep set:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-BAHCO-b...732?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2edc4c93e4

Bahco/Williams comments welcome here!

As all on this thread, I have no info or relationship with anything posted, so buyers always beware of whatever you do! - Paul

Here's one more idea for today: A nice older set of SK 3/8 shallow/deep SAE sockets with case and ratchet. This new goes for a bit over $100 today. Currently this one is at $49 plus around $9 shipping or so, with about 2 hours to go on the single auction.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SK-S-K-3-8-...1659983837&pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr

Here's a review of about the same set for the new ones:

http://toolguyd.com/sk-socket-set-review/

The auction above is a vintage set. Not sure which is better, both new and old SK are awesome. Hope someone can benefit. The SK ratchets like the above are "magic" to many, with great feel and clicking. Not high tooth count. I think every GJer should own at least one SK ratchet. - Paul

Yes it was super nice for vintage! Had to share it! Went for about $61 plus shipping I think when done. Someone got a real nice set!

Keep sharing stuff you find guys that is either a great deal or a great product to consider. It will help out other GJers! - Paul

Punch that in the search box and it will come up.

Looks like spec wise it's close to a 2135 non MAX gun.

Here's a couple new ones to consider:

Wright Socket set, 25 pieces, 1/4 and 3/8 drive. A single buy it now auction. This is a real good deal for Wright.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wright-Tool...42840354?pt=US_Hand_Tools&hash=item566fcc3122

Here's another, 3 Penncraft Ratchets in good shape, vintage made by New Britain, you get 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drives. A single auction with 12 hours left as I type. New Britain made some outstanding ratchets.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Penncraft...1668924014&pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&vxp=mtr

For those looking for a high quality and very complete bit set, this one from JH Williams looks good for $99. Seller has several of these. Not sure if US made or not, may be Taiwan.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JH-Williams...66158465?pt=US_Hand_Tools&hash=item3f04f5d181

Here's the last one for worthy consideration. A nice Bonney flare / box end wrench set. Bonney wrenches were super and many feel the equal of Snap On. All vintage now, but here is a nice set for someone who could use it:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bonney-9-Pi...133?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4879db89e5

Good luck and happy hunting! - Paul

Very nice bit set but I can't spend that much. Is there anything out there for about half that price and decent quality?

There are a couple threads in the Tools section on bit sockets recently. Several brands are good, but all tend to not be cheap. SK had a deal here a few weeks back for 6 sockets for about $30 shipped. That was a good deal for SK. About $3-4 a socket for a top brand is the best I've seen these new. Used you can do a little better. Have to shop around. - Paul

Thanks DJ! Better prices are always helpful for anyone interested in it! The Amazon link suggests made in Taiwan also. This may be a good set for people to consider, of higher quality than the cheaper China coo stuff.

Be sure guys to post auctions you find for others that are good deals or would be of interest! - Paul

Here's a new one up for consideration. Did some searches on Herbrand tools. Herbrand was a US company and made quality stuff back in the day, 60's, 70's. Found this deal for a 3/8 drive metric 12 point socket set, pretty complete and NOS for only $20 shipped:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HERBRAND-12...729?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ed45bc189

Yes it is 12 point, but most probably really eventually need 6 and 12 point, not just 6 which is preferred whenever you can use it. This one I got one of a while back and they are high quality. Don't actually say US on them, but these were in the era when that wasn't always done because it was sort of known or assumed. Quality is right there with the Williams Bahco or Kobalt sets we talked about up above, just a couple decades older stock. Seller has reposted this ad several times, so he may have dozens or hundreds of sets for all I know.

Others, please keep posting things you find to share! - Paul

And another. I stuck this on the recent Wilde Plier deal thread, but will put it here too for posterity. NOS US made, very high quality at China prices:

Hey guys, I love Wilde. Best deal I've found for 61/2" older Wilde new old stock (without the flush feature these new ones have) is on ebay from ztsupply. They are like Cripes but much smaller outfit. Worth checking out everything they have.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-USA-WILD...item3cc66d2738

These are only $4 each and great for NOS Wilde. - Paul

I'm not sure those are US made Herbrand. I bought a metric set on ebay from Canada about 10 years ago. They did not say USA.
if the 3/8 square drive has the rounded corners to reduce wear, they were probably made in Asia.

Every US manufacturer I know, and Germany as well has 90 degree corners on the square drive. Its probably too expensive to change the broaching tools to the rounded wear reducing corners.

We would probably need a Herbrand expert to be sure. You can't just assume though that the 3/8 square end had to be really square on the older US stock. Some companies switched to the more modern rounded corners there earlier than others. Someone could also ask the seller how he knows they are US stock - he bought US made lots of stuff in the past (also has some Walden sockets and such). Quality on the set is very high. If Asian, they would be at least good Taiwan or Japan. I think they are NOS US from near then end of US Herbrand manufacture, but I could also be wrong. - Paul

Edit: Did a bit more research and the style of socket here is not in the '66 catalog so definitely after that. It would have to be early 70's to be US. But also found Herbrand had Canada production going on as well in the 70's. Could possibly be Canada if not US, or else could be Japan (Taiwan not a factor back then really). Still need those Herbrand experts. Quality is very good though. Herbrand under Triangle in the later 70's and 80's did make some junk. These don't look at all like those sockets from that era. - Paul

Ooohh, I love Wilde. That is a real good price. Thanks guys also for bringing back this thread - we need lots more Ebay or Auction deals posted! They are out there! - Paul

Isn't the problem posting auctions is that Gj members will be bidding against each other? I saw this happening in the vise thread, now everyone mums the word in that thread.

^^^^^^^^^^^^

Ebay still does auctions?!?!

Thought Greedbay was mostly store front now. I sure miss the old days of Ebay. It used to be fun, in both searching, selling and bidding.

Well, there is a point to that. But I was trying to use the thread as a way to show GJers what kind of older quality but fair priced US tools could be had via ebay with only a little effort that would be much better than most newer foreign made tools. Most of my US tools were bought used and not new and are older ones but work great!

But it also works really well when a seller has more than a few of something for sale, which is often the case these days as there are many sellers that sell NOS items or new items that were clearanced out, etc, or even remanufactured items at 1/2 original cost or less. So I see lots of potential. It is here as a thread for all of us to use as we want to.

I'd say any interesting deal you find, whether a single screaming buy or a large quantity available for many GJers is fair game. Even a single buy can show others how to find a similar deal later on with a small amount of looking. - Paul

3/4" drive "Indestro Super" socket set

guy has had it listed for weeks. no takers on it yet.
I've communicated with him online about it. nice set. has a mess of extra pieces added to the set. (read the fine print in the ad- the breaker bar is not included and some of chrome on the bottoms of the sockets is deteriorated,
sockets and attachments look good. box is in rough shape, but fixable.
way too big for my needs.
$190 + $60 shipping

I don't need 3/4" drive to work on lawnmowers! ;)

(okay... well, maybe sometimes when I can't get blade bolts out... but I manage somehow with a 1/2" breaker and a chunk of pipe.)

Ok I got an ebay seller I can recommend:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/1st_web_sales/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=

Place is called 1st web sales. Mainly China COO stuff, but at really good prices. They have some assortments of things that may be otherwise hard to find nearly as cheap. I got a few hex bit sets from them, some giant size hole saw blades, dremel diamond wheel cutter bits, etc. Check them out if so inclined. - Paul
