I'm in the market for a MIG welder. Has anyone come across any stores that currently or will potentially have sales on Mig welders?

Justin

Edit: Oh wow, as long as I've been trolling this forum, I can't believe this was my first post!

I purchased my Miller at Zoro's 30% off... best deal by far I could find on it. I believe it will be Cyber Monday this year.

Hard to beat Zoro cyber Monday. I got a syncrowave 200 for $1750!

Look around on their website and see what 30% off looks like.

I don't know if it's just Friday or or today through Saturday.

Thanks for the heads up. Amazon has it for $499 free shipping. Be about the same at TSC after tax but I would be buying local.

How good is the 140 compared to the 210 other than ones on 220 plug?
Here's the link to the 140 on sale
http://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/hobart-handler-140-mig-welder?cm_vc=-10005

I discussed this with a professional welder friend, and he said he could never own a 120v machine for automotive work... they're just too weak. But any 220v machine is fine.

I guess it really depends on what you're doing. If it's just sheet metal, then either is gonna be ok. But for thicker stuff you need a 220v machine.

I race lawn mowers and all the guys in my club say a 110 version is plenty. I think a 220 would be a better option but I would have to do some electrical to get a 220 plug put in. I know several who use the hobart 140 and love it.

On the market for a welder myself for BF as well. Musts are mig, 220v. I would like to get something 200 - 250 amp. I would like to get a multi function (mig/tig/stick) that came with all the components. Sub 1500 would be amazing also :)

The 140 is a good welder. I've done a ton of automotive work and fabrication work with mine. Included in the is some very heavy suspension and roll cage welding on my crawler. It has held up to several roll overs and lots of off-roading. If you are going to do heavy fab a 220v is ideal, for auto body and most general fab 120 is sufficient. If you mainly do sheet metal work a smaller welder is actually superior b/c the generally have finer control at the low end of their power.

Doing heavy fabrication (say anything bigger the 1/8") with a 120v welder requires some skill and some technique. It also takes more time as you are going to have to prep the weld eve it out and do multiple passes. It is not appropriate in all situations, but it will cover you most of the time.

I'm planning on buying this one as long as they still have there 30% off. Plus Miller has a mail in rebate.

I find their pricing really odd.... they charge your 30% more than others that you can find online then give you a "special" 30% discount...... I guess if you purchase other things along with it, it evens out.... so that 30% is actually a delusional discount if you are just buying a welder....

You gotta shop smart at Zoro. Many items are more money but others are competitively priced . That's where you save. I bought a Dynabrade sander that was a great deal last year.

Yeah I have yet to purchase anything from Zoro. I see people talk up the site as good deals but the welders see really high. I was hoping to try and get a deal on one from them but they still seem a bit high after the discount.

Thanks for the link to the Miller on welding supply. The $200, $400 discount rebate from Miller is good to go there also. So for $865, after MIR, you get the welder and the cart.

Yea I was thinking about the millermatic 211 then the 252 came to mind now can't made a decision. the $200 rebate is for just the welder, the $400 is if you buy the $400 worth of miller accessories with the same sales receipt. which is about the 150 spool gun $350 with a few other $50 worth of miller accessories. still worth it though.

BTW just did the math if you are actually able to get the 30% discount and zoro does not charge tax, the price was actually $120 cheaper @ $949, just dunno about the tax and the rebate.

I was looking at the rebate and it says that it has to be purchased from a dealer to qualify. Has anyone had an issue getting the rebate after buying from Zoro?
I bought a MillerMatic 212, 23-Sep-2015, last time Zoro had a 30% off sale. I also got the $100 rebate from Miller. Use the Zoro emailed receipt as proof of purchase and a photo of the Welder ID label on back side as serial number evidence. Got my $100 rebate check 2 weeks later.

Did they charge you taxes for that purchase? I don't remember if they do or not..
