Hello all.
I'm trying to test and if good return an old compressor tank from 1949. It's 70 gallons. Today I fought out one of the inspection plugs. Ultimately it took the torch. It was really in there. I worked at it hard until I was concerned that I was going to damage it so badly that I'd have to drill or burn it out.
Anyway. I don't know what to think about what I found. There's a thick layer of silt and oil sludge at the bottom. Could be over 2 inches thick. But I'm going to break it up and vac it out. Then take a good look at the bottom. In any case I think I'm fine with using it if I can pump it to 300 psi and it holds it fast. Then I'll take the recommendation to tumble it with gravel and paint.
But to the main point of my post. The plug is dead. Where do you get a 2 or 2.5" plug with a port tapped port in it. I can't find them anywhere on line. I could certainly tap it myself but my guess is that there's not enough meat in a standard plumbing part. I haven't gotten my hands on one yet to see. But just wondering if anyone has an idea where to get them. I'll need one tapped for 1/4" and 2 without.
Thanks
John
