the jacket is from Mexico for example....

I got two similar jackets, a lined one from Mexico and a custom embroidered one with thinner lining from the US. They make some good stuff here (their overalls are awesome), but it seems that they're banking on the name commanding a premium for quality that isn't always there in the imported products...I was not impressed at all with their jeans for the price, even less so when I found American-made ones with heavier denim for cheaper.

I wished we had a Sears Outlet store here in Hawaii. They just closed up their flagship store at the Ala Moana Center 2 years ago to make way for Bloomingdale's.

3pc. Adjustable wrench set $10 and stubby combos for $20 at Lowes tonight. Went in with the wife looking for an area rug and came out with these. Also noticed there's a line of Kobalt power tools (table saws, miter saws etc.) anyone out there familiar with who makes those for Lowes/Kobalt?

Here goes my first attempt at posting pics as well as first time posting in this thread.

Great sale at Canadian Tire for Cyber Monday (but on Sunday??).. the 230pc drill bit set was marked down from $140 to $30.. at that price they're just consumables. The smallest sizes have like 20-30 drill bits in each 1/64"-increment size! The stubby "Maximum GearWrench" (literally exactly what it says on the handles) were $40 each marked down from $90 each, and are Taiwanese. The flex sockets were $14 marked down from something like $70 and the 1/2" 24" breaker bar was $9 from $41 I think. All in all I can't complain.

Also sold my old PlayStation and literally 5 minutes later and a couple blocks away handed over $80 of the cash for this "brand new in bag" M18 sawzall that guy was selling on CL because he didn't need it from his 6-pack deal..

I've got two of those bit sets. And the are exactly as you say. Consumable. Nice to have a set that you can abuse and not waste higher end bits.

I dunno. From the looks of the rest of the shop it should be fine right there :)

Tell me about it.. With the passing of my wife's grandfather a few years ago, we are now living at his place and have LOTS of stuff to go through. Of course it's all packed up and stored in the garage, no one wants to go through any of it except me:lol_hitti

Edit: found a spot lol

Exactly! Now the good bits can be moved to "drillpress use ONLY" and these are for misc drilling as well as working with hard/difficult materials.

They need to do away with the screw that holds the lever. That one thing will make these ratchets 50 times better.

Agreed... I had to loctite mine on to get it to stop coming unscrewed. If you tighten it down then the lever won't move.. if you leave it loose the screw will work it's way out. Loctite seems to be holding so far.

I was unable to find any manufacturer which still makes hacksaws in the USA... so I bought a used one. I was looking for one which could make flush cuts and this one turned out to be a good choice. My guess is that this one is from the 60s-70s and though it has surely seen much use, it still functions well :)

M. Klein & Sons - Made in USA

Also bought a few different sets of Klein Drivers... Pictured is them sorted in a Plano waterproof container.

7 Piece hollow shaft Nut driver set: 1/4" - 1/2"

4 Piece Square driver set: #0 - #3
2 Piece Combo driver set: (square/slotted) #1 - #2

5 Piece Torx driver set: T15 - T30

All made in USA. I also have a separate container for Phillips/Slotted/specialty

Did you check Wilde? Last catalog of theirs I have shows hacksaws. Everything they offer is U.S. made and they make it themselves. I haven't used one myself but the other tools I've purchased from them have been good. I'd actually planned to purchase one of their saws in the future.

Chad's Tool Box Goodness from Thanksgiving/Black Friday. By the way, they have a pretty good sale on Wera and other brands going on right now.
Did I mention it got here super fast?

Anyway, pictured is a Wera Tool-Check Plus kit, which has a bit ratchet, power bit holder, handle bit holder, a whole bunch of bits (torx, tamperproof torx, hex, phillips, PZ, and flat), a 1/4 square drive adapter, and 7 sockets(5.5, 6, 7. 8. 10.12, & 13) all in an over engineered holder:lol:

Next is a pair of Knipex locking flat band hose clamp pliers. That's right, that silver bar above the upper handle is a latch that allows you to lock the hose clamp pliers taking the clamp's pressure off your hand. You can lock the pliers in any of the cobra adjustments. Not cheap but, Knipex good!!! Part# 85 51 250 AF

Lastly is a pair of the newly released Knipex hose clamp pliers for Quick Clamps. Notice the shape of the jaws. Part # 85 51 250 C.

Merry Christmas to me

MagnumForce,

Does Family Farm and Home sell other decent hand tool brands besides Tekton at their stores?

Thanks,

Dave

Can you post a picture of wrenches in the rack once your ready?

I finally got a chance to reorganize my wrench drawer a little bit this weekend. In the second long drawer of my HF 56" box, I originally had around 30 or so wrenches, along with 2 torque wrenches and some misc. tools that didn't have a home. I took all of that out and made use of those wrench rails to hold part of my new 32-piece GearWrench set.

I also found my 20-piece Craftsman (USA) midget wrenches and added those to the drawer... maybe I'll actually use them once in a while now that they are handy! They came in 2 small pouches as part of a 263 piece mechanics set I bought 10 years ago, but I kind of forgot I had them buried in my socket set drawer. Unfortunately, I only just discovered that I'm missing one of the standard wrenches, and I also have two missing metrics that were mistakenly filled with duplicates in that set. I guess I need to get that sorted out...

Almost immediately, I decided that I don't care for these Kobalt wrench rails. They are the first wrench rails I've ever owned, so I don't really have anything to compare here. I just feel like they wasted more space, so I took them out and I now have a much neater setup:

I guess I have just enough to neatly fill the drawer, so the rails aren't really needed yet. I'll probably take them to work and use them in my box there.

The big empty hole is reserved after I discovered that I never bought the SAE Kobalt flex ratchet wrench set. I meant to pick it up after I bought and used the metrics, but completely forgot. Even though I'm not buying too many Kobalt tools these days, I like those wrenches and it bugs me not having the matching set, ha ha.

Sorry to get a little off topic here, I'll be sure to make up for it once my Cyber Monday shipments start to arrive!

I got tired of digging my tools out of the little box I had in the corner of the shop. Now my big problem is all those empty spaces need tools to fill it it. :D

This thread should help motivate you to do that. If you aren't careful, before you know it you'll need another one. [emoji1]

Couldn't help myself, I had to get the matching set:

Now I just need to buy the 3 or 4 missing sizes for these 2 sets, so I have all of them. Too bad they don't have a larger range in the flex head ratcheting; I'll have to get some GearWrench to fill in the other sizes as needed. At least for now, my wrench drawer is now balanced once again (I'm ignoring the missing/duplicate migets!):

What do you think of this box so far?

I've been wanting an 18V Dewalt jig saw for a while and came across this one at a swap meet on Sunday. A used one for $50 and included 2 batteries. The guy said he made the switch to 20V and there was probably "100" people that picked it up and looked at it on Saturday.

I offered him 40 bucks and he took it and said I could take the 3 18V drills across the back of the table too. He picked one up and handed it to me, I put a battery in it and it worked. I didn't want to get greedy and walked away with what's in the picture for $40 and was happy.
