I've got a 24 x 32 pole building with storage trusses spaced 8' OC. I need to install 2 x 4 joists 24" OC perpendicular to the trusses. I want to install a metal ceiling, use blown in insulation, and have the joists covered in plywood for storage. I'm considering installing the 2 x 4 joists flush with the bottom of the trusses, which are either 2x6 or 2x8. This sets me up good for the ceiling install. However, doing it this way I won't have a flat floor for storage above. The extra height of the trusses would break up the flat floor. I guess I could always buy joists that are the same width as the trusses but that would be overkill and much more expensive. What is the best way to go about handling this situation? Would appreciate your thoughts.
