__THER Milwaukee Vise I.D.

Thought that I would throw this out to the vise "Gods" for proper I.D. on this old vintage vise!!
Says V17 C and Pat on one side and V17 B on the other--jaw width is 1.75" wide x approx. 4" opening and VP on thumb screw. Can anyone fill in the __?
Thinking that it is very old 20's--30's? Might have been repainted? Any help or suggestions appreciated.............Cranky
