I got an offer from Ebay to sell and item and receive a $50 gift card to use towards future Ebay purchases.

After activating the offer, listed a set of used Iphone earbuds for $.99 local pickup only, and had my wife buy it now. Low and behold the $50 came to my email about 2 weeks later.

Normally I blow these off, but decided to give it a try and the whole process look less then 10 minutes - from ad creation to buying the items...All from my phone on the couch while watching football!

The gift card expires 2 weeks after it arrives, 12/21/15 in my case.

My wife got the same offer and now that I know it works, we did the same thing yesterday with her account.

I've sold over 8,000 dollars of tools this year alone and have yet to receive anything close to this offer.

Well, yea. They aren't going to give anything to the guy that already sells stuff.

I sold a few grand in gift cards last year and then stopped selling, so last month they sent me an offer with a max $5 ebay commission no matter what I sold. It worked, I sold a few things and now have the itch to sell more.

But I don't expect anymore generous offers like that until I stop selling for a while.

It looked like this and I'm sure it's because I've never sold anything.

I received this a couple months ago for $25. Sold one item, got the money and turned around and bought something. Worked for me. Haven't seen the $50.00 one.

You would think that now that eBay and PayPal are "2 separate companies" that they would add more payment options, such as direct to bank account

I got one of those messages on Nov 1, but didn't read it until recently. I'd assumed it had expired, but after reading this thread, I went back and re-read it. It's good until Dec 31. So unless you purge your message box periodically, look further back.

One catch:
"Only users that have never sold before under any eBay user ID (“sellers”) are eligible for this promotion. Eligible sellers who activate the offer on the promotion landing page, and then create qualifying listings* during the Promotion Period (as defined below) on ebay.com or mail qualifying items‡ through eBay Valet, will be eligible for an eBay Coupon. Only U.S. residents are eligible for this offer."

I've only ever sold one item, for $3 to test the waters, about 10 years ago. I'm guessing that eBay won't overlook that.
