I have an IR compressor 7.5 Baldor motor and a MiniMax MM16 Italian 4.8 hp motor bandsaw. 33A & 24A. They will live next to each other and not be used together, my compressor is powered off if not using. I'm running 6/2 wire to an AC disconnect about 12-14 ft with a 60 amp breaker at my main. Is it ok to hardwire both of the tools to the same disconnect? If not what options??
Thanks

No, you can not hard wire both to the same circuit (I can not quote the code section).

The only option you have is install a 6-50 receptacle and put 6-50 plugs on each item. I don't even know if this is "legal" seeing as you have a 60A breaker.

Maybe I should just wire up a 60-80 amp sub panel. Then I can feed all the machines separately.

If you are doing this at home and know you are really the only one that is using the stuff then I say you are fine.
If you are doing this in a commercial shop then I am going to say no you cannot and you cannot have the same breaker feeding both disconnects

I have both welders and the plasma outlets all on the same 60amp circuit I don't know or care if it is "Code" The worst thing that is going to happen is that I will trip the breaker if I try and use all three at the same time.

At times there is way to much over thinking on this site.

Still trying to figure out why a lot of you don't keep your compressors charged all the time, but that would be another thread.

Make sense on the code vs what realistically done. This is my own garage so no worries.

Thumper I do keep it charged I just make sure I power it off when Im not around. Just my own OCD. Ill go weeks without using it for more than filling a tire or two so its easy to power up when Im using a blaster or the plasma.

unless the 6-50r has a HP rating equal to or greater than the motors HP rating, then u cant use it.

Most NEMA outlets are rated upto 3HP so that wont work....
