Hey folks Im brand new here and looking to learn more about diagnosing modern vehicles. I am in the market for a good oscillioscope.
I've read enough already to have found that Pico seems to be the number 1 pick. But its price is astronomically high.

I'd like to know if anyone has positive experience with the Hantek DSO3064 Kit for automotive scoping. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DSO3064-Kit7-VII-Automotive-Vehicle-Diagnosis-Digital-Oscilloscop-60MHz-4Ch-WIFI/290846364146?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3D5ca58193c3ce4651b74d103bf3e69fa8%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D290846364146

This Hantek 3064 Kit has everything a top of the line Pico kit has for 659.99 bucks but is it good as the Pico? That's the million dollar question. It has a 3yr warranty. How could I go wrong with this?

Amp clamps, probes out the yin yang, in fact here's the list of what all it comes with.

package includes:

Packing :Hard Plastic Case

1pcs DSO3064 Oscilloscope

1pc x PP-80 Oscilloscope

4pcs x HT30A, Auto Test Cable

4pcs x HT25,Auto High-pressure Ignition Probe

4pcs x HT201, 20:1 Attenuator

4pcs x HT18A, Large Dolphin/Gator Clip

4pcs x HT19, Multimeter Probe

1pc x HT307,Acupuncture Probe Set

4pcs X HT308,Coil-on-Plug Extension Cord (with grounding cord)

1pcs x HT310, Auto Power Adapter

1pc x CC-65, AC/DC Current Clamp CC-65A

1PC X CC-650,AC/DC Current Clamp CC-650A

1PC X HT301 Break Out Leads

I'd love to hear from someone who actually has the Hantek DSO3064 Scope and uses it for automotive diagnostic. Will It be a disappointment or will it save me big bucks, allowing me to also purchase Autel DS708 Scanner to add to my arsenal of tools?

I can't believe no one has tried this Scope.
I just need to know from someone who has tried it or been around it, knows a friend who has it, if it will more than adequately do auto diagnostic work?

If it has querks lingering in software that I'll find I'm not happy with later, what are they? Do the cheaper amp clamps read accurately enough? Is it fast enough? Does it have enough memory or buffer, etc?

Thanks!

I could be wrong but I think user "mechanicnamedjohn" had a hantek scope. He used to have a bunch of videos on YouTube about it but I can't find them anymore.

The link you sent is to a Hantek CLONE. This is why you are not able to update software directly from Hantek. Overseas ebay sellers do this with all high end dignostic/tuning equipment. The product is likely 100% made in the same factory but the serial number for the device is a CLONE of one from 2014....the reason for having to change computer time. A real Hantek does not have any of these issues associated. I would contact Hantek and buy either a: Direct if you have a Business that you can run it through or b: through one of their third party vendors. This is my two cents from being screwed over by ebay knock offs, do as you please.

Thanks for the reply man! So its a clone huh? Does that make it a clone of a clone of a clone? LOL!

Just kidding! So If I get a genuine Hantek kit there should be no issues with any of the equipment, amp clamps, etc.? From what I've read self contained DC amp clamps don't work too well unless you shell out a few bucks. Of course these are a little different since they need another piece of equipment to run them. Thats why I seem concerned about these clamps.

The cables that come with the scope are par for the price of the scope. I bought a good set of clamps when I bought my Rigold bench scope and found that they can be the difference between questioning a waveform, and being certain. I prefer to probe whenever possible but in some load scenarios it is unavoidable.

What all do you need to purchase extra to work with the Rigol bench scope?
Do you have to use an attenuator for spark plug wires?

I was looking at some of the Rigol models as well. Are there any disadvantages to using one for auto diagnostics?

I’d also second the 2204, had one for a long time before I upgraded to a 4425. With the 2204 you’ll want some attenuators and also to hack/mod the pico automotive software but once that is done it’s an awesome scope and gets you the pico experience. Order some nice leads from aeswave and what ever else you need and you’re good to go! :)
