I'm not trying to be an ***, but I really don't want to divulge the exact details. They're proprietary I guess you could say. I put a lot of time and research into the finished product and I'm not going to tell everyone how I do it because I have competition on the website (Etsy) where I sell them.

I will say they're neodymium rare earth magnets that are counterbored into the oak board. Sorry I can't give anymore details. It would be like chevy asking ford about how they build cars a certain way.

I put a lot of time into researching the grade, diameter, and thickness of a magnet that would support the assembly and function as intended. Not to mention positioning the magnet so it wouldn't interfere with the screws that hold the bottle opener on. Then experimenting with adhesives that hold these monster magnets into the wood and won't separate over time. Neodymium magnets aren't cheap so experimenting is costly.

I've never seen one of those for neodymium magnets. All the information I've found is pull strength, and coating. For a custom application such as this there are too many variables involved to simply "select the proper magnet from the chart". Would 10lbs work? 20lbs?

If you're confident that you can select the proper magnet from said chart, pick what you would use while still being cost effective and I'll tell you if it's the size I use. Dimensions for the board are 9" x 3 1/2" x 3/4" thick with a starr x bottle opener.

PS: Most GJ Folks have a fully equipped shop and know how to use them. Those that don't have a great talent for making do with what they have. That makes us more builders than buyers. Even if it cost more time and money. We can say, WE BUILT IT!!!.
