Barn/garage tool lot (molasses rust restoration)

I picked up 4 truck loads of tools from a old barn/garage that was geting torn down and here is some of my findings. (I will post pics as I pull them out of the vat of molasses and water) all the tools were mostly crusty and some were even rusted together. This was after a week.

Yes one load was in another thread I posted. I just went back multiple times. I can still go back. But they have slowly started to scrap stuff. So far 4000 lbs of metal has been scrapped.

10-15% molasses to water mix. Put rusty **** in it, walk away for a month.

I used 1 part molasses 8 parts water(warm) and it took all the rust off most tools in two weeks. Some I am thinking it will take a month.

I don't know I believe there are more in my vat. I am going to see if I have a set. Most of them were rusted together. I only pulled out a couple today.

The warmer the molasses mix is the faster it will work. It is slow. a lot slower than an E-tank. if you pull the parts every few days, and brush the crud with a nylon brush or tooth brush, it will also speed the process.

Ditto on the pics of the loads or pile!

Electrolysis is waaaaaaaaay faster....as long as you're careful to put it on a GFCI and keep it away from meddling children and pets, it's a truly fantastic restoration tool. Even museums use it to restore sunken relics, etc....

Wow... Looks like a mother lode of old tools and artifacts!... Rotabin, wheel balancer, and that Erie vise sure caught my eye!

Yeah it was. Snow has covered up alot of stuff and the roof caved in from the snow. Along with other pickers it's not looking good. The owner is rehabbing the house and most likely going to scrap anything left after snow is gone this spring.

I have a Walworth wrench like that, the company went **** up in 1919.

Is that accurate? I have a Walworth adjustable that I found 2 years ago, hit it with a wire wheel and some red rattle can. Use it quite a bit.

Actually the Walworth Co is still in business (at least as recently as 2007) , but now they make large valves and the like.

Mystery piece is an arbor. Bolt it to a bench or frame work and attach a grinding wheel, or saw blade or...
Pulley on the other end, drive it with a belt/motor, and keep the (Babbit?) bearings greased/oiled...

Thanks for that! I was wondering about the shop smith. The only thing is mine doesn't have a table saw just the base set up as a table. Any close up pictures of the table saw piece? Thanks I have been over there attempting to save some things before they just it all. I spent 4 hrs digging this out (See below)

It needs new decking and rims and tires (already picked up) have him $100 and he also included a big pile of 8-9 foot shiplap siding boards(old but usable)

The bumper on the peg board is 63-7 Vette, sadly in that condition probably not worth too much. Can't help but wonder if there are more Vette or Hi-Perf Chevy stuff there. Always fun to poke around a place like that.

There are a shitload of carbs and I found 2 engines sadly outside buried in brush. I found them digging out the trailer.

Last time it was on the road was in 04. It was also upside down with trees on it. I was lucky I didn't loose the axel while driving her home. The shackle mounts were a little crushed and it needs new bearings and hubs bad. I wasn't about to put any load on it.
