To add to my wrenches, I really want to get a set of XL ratcheting wrenches. There are several variants that I can't seem to choose from. Mind you, I already have a full set of standard Gearwrench flex, standard box/open wrenches, and xl flank drive plus. Which of the following would be the best addition?

Box double flex ratchet. ~$120
https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/...EXTRA-LONG-DOUBLE-FLEX-RATCHETING-WRENCH-SET/

box double extended flex ratchet. ~$120
https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/...G-DOUBLE-BOX-FLEX-HEAD-RATCHETING-WRENCH-SET/

Double joint, box double flex ratchet. ~$190
https://www.matcotools.com/catalog/...-DOUBLE-FLEX-JOINT-BOX-WRENCH-SET/#to-details

And finally box/box flex ratchet. ~$190

That hands down is the best and if you can get that for $190 +/- with the free holiday shipping then you've got yourself a keeper.

Just for kicks, have you tried the code "newtech" to see if you can stack the discount? I hear it works only once, so load up like to a thousand if you can make it work.

Also, Gear wrench's 120xp 120tooth wrench could be had at the same price as the last one, in the same configuration. Would you guys prefer to have the Matco 72 tooth or Gearwrench 120 tooth at the same price?

Is this student pricing?

I went with the GW 120xp XL flex ones because I wouldn't fork out the $$$ for the big Matco set.

My buddy has the Matco ones, and I've yet to tell a difference when actually using them vs my GW. Which I'm happy about obviously, because I really thought there was a good possibility I'd be disappointed.

And I actually get to use my XL a lot less than I thought I would simply because they are so long. Not complaining, just surprised a little.

Well, that's my useless post.

EDIT: I feel like I downplayed the GW. I should really upplay them, because they are that badass. I think I paid $327 or $347 ish for both GW complete sets, SAE and MM, from Tool Discounter if IIRC. I'll look at my emails now to confirm. I did a **** ton of research before I bought them.

EDIT 2: Yea, Tooldiscounter. $169 for MM and $163 for SAE.

Maybe you can find a coupon online as well....

If matco truck will warranty those then get the last one on your list... But only if it's $190 and not $500

Otherwise gearwrench

I absolutely freaking love those GW 120xps. I was not sure about the spline, but they really do grab away from the corners and grab HARD. I would go with the longer if it was between the Matco and GW, not sure if they are different lengths though.

I would go with the last one on your list or the gearwrench 120xp box/ratcheting flex
These are so great I just got the add on set with 21-25mm to

And the only other set I would recommend is the mountain deep offset spline ratcheting flex
I use these all the time aswell

I didn't know they made the add-on set for those. Time to buy.

EDIT: I can't find this set???? Is there a miscomm. here?

Also, I had the Mountain or EZ Red, but sold them and replaced with the GW for the simple fact of wanting the box end to break **** loose.

I've used them under my Ton Trucks quite a bit (because there is ample room) and have some pretty high torque on some of the fasteners.

Two things. I just ordered that mountain set. I'm going to link it below, it now has the revised 90 tooth design as well and I'm excited and can't wait until they get here. I'll post up on what I think when they arrive.

Second! 120XP's grab VERY hard! I love them, I've used the wrenches and the 3/8 ratchet and I am extremely happy. The other positive is the actual width on the ratcheting side is MUCH thinner than most ratchet wrenchs. That in its self makes them worth the money.

Yes.

You guys seem to like that last set with the ratchet and box end. I think that that may be the most versatile one and that design is the one i'll be getting. Its just down to Matco 72 teeth or Gearwrench 120 teeth. They're pretty much identical minus the teeth count. Go for the name at a cheap price, or go for the 120t one. HMM..

Go for the Matco cause it'll be easier to sell at break even or even hogher if the tech thing doesnt work out.

These are the same as the second link you posted. Not sure if you can get them for the price you posted, but if you cant, these are cheaper and literally the exact same thing

Exactly what i was thinking!

Or, if you don't care whether they are reversible and have an offset box, get these, they're a little less than half off: http://www.ebay.com/itm/262129797172

ouch!!! $450 for 4 wrenches:shocking:

Yep, and that adds up it to a $1000 to complete the entire set of 8mm-25mm (less the 20 and 23).

I gotta say, these are the bees knees of the non-reversibles.

Only thing is sometimes that spline gets caught (man they grab) and you have to tap it a little to nudge it off.

That and while it's not a problem for me (yet), I wish that they had made the pins that hold the flex into torx so they can be tightened.
