I have had a krsc 46 for a couple years now and I wanted another box to keep some bigger stuff I didn't use in, so last week I got a great deal (in my opinion anyways) on a used master series box off the truck. It has the stainless top and I love it but I can not figure out anything good to clean it with. It seems like everything leaves streaks and smears... any help? Thanks guys

I clean all my steel benches with gas. I have mixed gas in a goldenrod pump can hanging on the side of the bench because its the greatest small engine tool there is. It also doubled as a great way to clean the bench. It works for my benches as well as my stainless top.on my KRL.

I use Bar Keepers on my fridge, stove, grill, and microwave it works great. I would use it on a s.s. top in a heart beat. I prefer the soft cleanser one but the spray and original types are nice to. Just make sure to follow the directions.

There's a cleanser called Bar Keeper's Friend. Works great on SS.

Fart & Smile sell an "own brand" stainless cleaner in a spray bottle. It's a clear liquid & is the absolute dogs ******** on Stainless surfaces.

Im going to try some of that... I bought some cleaner from SO that says "painted surface & stainless steel cleaner" but it streaks and you have to scrub it with a towel dampened with water to get the streaks out.

I used glass cleaner on the stainless benches in my NY shop.

I just tried some, it seemed to really help, not perfect but a lot better. It was a cheap off brand cleaner though... I think im going to still get the bar keepers stuff for a good clean and just use some good window cleaner for daily touch up's. I see now why a lot of people dont want stainless appliances.

You'll have to rinse it off when your done.. It's basically like soft scrub..
In my sink (I cleaned it in the pic just to give people an idea) I use an abrasive pad to clean everything - but depending what kinda shape that top is in, you can try using a non-scratch (blue) pad first, or just a sponge.. Scotch bright pad after that maybe....

This stuff cleans more that just SS though.. Porcelain , fiberglass, plastic and acrylic too.. Not to be used on painted surfaces though..

That's what I was going to say. I'm not sure if the snap on tops are coated or cleared? Idk. Got to be careful you don't turn it into a brushed top lol

I need to contact SO and see if they can tell me if it's coated with something, I sure don't want to hurt the finish.

Stainless is a pain to clean, picks up oil from your hand. I use the snap on cleaner your talking about. I use two rags one to spread out cleaner pick up most dirt and second one to fine clean. I have 150 inches of SS top and KRSC43, I keep them pretty clean but after all they are tool boxes and the top is a work surface.

Mine got brake cleaner a few times a week and that was it. Sometimes it might be streaky but it was ALWAYS clean.

When you're just going to drop a crusty brake caliper on it again tomorrow... a slightly streaky finish wasn't a big deal.

I did buff it with rubbing compound whenever the powder coated drawers/frame got a polish & wax treatment, however. That really cleans it up streak-free.

The best thing about a stainless steel top is that you can use it like a dry erase board. Outline a part like an intake manifold when it's set down and make notes next to it about which holes had the long bolts, or ground wire, etc.

The wipe the sharpie off without a trace after the job is finished with a quick shot of brake cleaner. Completely dissolves sharpie ink.
