*sigh*.. still jealous that I don't have my own excavator and dozer.. more jealous now that it even has site grade control on it
: p lol looking good, can't wait for more!

It an old school spectra precision system probably 20 years old. But it still works good.

Is there a drainage swale on the uphill side of the driveway. I'm assuming you put one in, just hard to see in the pictures.

Reminds me that I need a load of gravel on my driveway. Mine has lost much of its crown and there's not enough material on the sides to build it back up.

Is the JD a 64xx?
No drainage swale. I shouldn't need one. I never had problems with it washing out before. Once i get a good stand of grass it should hold up just fine.

I put erosion control fabric under my stone to keep it from pushing into the subsoil. It not cheap. $360 for a 440' roll thats 12'6" wide but it works well

Its a 6430. I have a 6420 as well.

Some progress pictures from this weekend. Everything is ready for the walls to be poured next week. The first 3 pictures are from the end of the day yesterday. The floor still needed some grading and i adjusted the batter boards today and set my nails for string lines. The last 4 pictures are from different times today. The whole floor is within a 1/2" all the way around. I don't think I've ever seen a contractor spend this much time fine tuning a basement floor! Its different when its your house.

Rain all day today... Footers have been bumped to tomorrow weather permitting, walls set and poured on Thursday. Mason is stopping by on Saturday to set pilasters if the forms are off in time. Then the J-drain and waterproofing beginning of next week.

Mike Mulligan! C'mon! Required reading for any gearhead kid. My 2 year old son loves it.
Well I wasn't raised in a gearhead family. I kind of remember seeing the book somewhere after looking at some pictures. But if I read it nearly 30 years ago there is no way I would remember. I struggle to remember what I did last week. lol

Weather *****. Collapsed one of the dirt walls. cleaned it up last night and they poured the footers today. Looks like they will be pouring the walls on Monday. Its supposed to be dry the next few days. Hope to get my dozer fixed tomorrow and the pad graded out for the shop. The weather has probably delayed the start of the shop a bit but I would think in the next week or two it should get started. Pictures to come

Footers were poured last Friday, walls were set and poured Monday, and they stripped the forums yesterday. I rode by last night to see how they look and it already looks like one of the walls could be 3-4" out of square. I hope its just my eyes playing tricks on me. Wont know until I pull string lines this weekend. That's why I decided to put block on top of the wall to square things back up. We will see how bad it is this weekend. They are supposed to do the waterproofing and J-drain in the next 2 or 3 days so I can get my backfill inspection.

On a brighter note the pad is ready for the shop to start. I used most of the fill from the basement to make the pad. It ended up meeting grade in the front right and in the back left there is 18-24" of fill. I wanted the garage and shop floors to be roughly the same elevation so the driveway would work out. It will still give me plenty of fall for drainage as well. Everything was laser graded by me then my dad stopped by to roll the pad while I finished up.

The plumber is coming Thursday to rough in a 1/2 bath in the basement and a bar sink for later down the road. This weekends plan is to get the pilasters up to catch the footing for the garage and porch walls. Put in the two sump pits and install the poly and keyway so I can pour the basement next weekend. I really want to get the garage and porch footers ready too so I can pour them at the same time. There just isn't enough time in the day with it being dark at 4:30 now.

Here are some pictures from the last few days...

Nice, really nice. I'm not to far from you over near Church Hill Md.
Did you see that the Faisons who own the car auction in Felton are building a new 1/4 mile dirt race track behind the auction.

Wow, i had no idea there was such rural areas in Delaware. Looks like it could be Iowa or some place similar. I'd always thought the east coast was super built up. Looks like fun! Will keep a look out for more.

LOL you need to get out more.

Corn, Beans and Chickens is what DELMARVAS (eastern shore Md.,DE.and eastern shore of Va.) all about

Yea im only 3 miles from the auction. The contractor building the track just came into the office 10 minutes ago to get the permit to start construction. My buddy Shannon who is a building inspector is good friends with them. He went to a few of the nascar races their son was racing in.

Well got the basement floor ready this weekend (graded/poly/foam/keyway/sump pits). Got the pilasters put up and also started back filling the basement before we ran out of sunlight on Saturday. The basement was water proofed and J-drain installed last Thursday and i got my back fill inspection. Plumber is there today roughing in the 1/2 bath in the basement and bar sink. Plan is to pour the floor this Saturday and get the footers dug for the garage and porches. I need to get the backfilling finished this week if i have time.

Backfilling is done. hope to get it plate tamped tomorrow and then dig my porch and garage footers saturday and get it inspected on monday to pour tuesday or wednesday. Block guy got pushed back a week because of the freezing temperatures at night coming this saturday. Looks like i have to get my floor beams and columns set as well before i can pour my basement floor.

Block work was finished up today! Can finally fully back fill and get a decent slope on the yard so it will drain. We've had at least 6-8" of rain the last few weeks and it becomes a mud hole very quick with poor drainage away from the house. Ill be out there tomorrow and part of the day sunday. Ill get some good pictures of the garage because i know no one cares about the house ;)

Contractor is starting the middle of next week on the shop! Material should be on site Monday/Tuesday!

House in mostly backfilled. Going to finish when i leave work tonight. Garage and porches are both filled with dirt. There is still alot of grading and filling that needs to happen but i will let this settle and finish the yard in the spring. I've attached the money shot of the garage that im sure everyone has been waiting for.

Basement pour from today. Post were made on site yesterday to hold the LVL beams. The floor is poured around them so the load is transfered all the way down to the footer. I used my excavator since it was still onsite to lower the power trowels into the basement after the pour. I will get some pictures of the finished floor tomorrow. Here are some pics.

This is my dream someday, to design and build a new place and make it what I want. One of these days ...

You mentioned that you were going to let things settle till spring? Is the basement that was just poured going to be covered, or will it be filling up like a pool .... ;)

No matter what, this is looking to be a great place!!

As in the ground around the house. I hope to be framing on the house in a couple of weeks. Im waiting for a quote on the labor. Im going to at least get the band boards on the house next week to keep the blocks from filling with water and freezing.

They are starting on my pole barn tomorrow.

Some pictures of the finished basement floor. Brought in some more more dirt from the farm pond along my driveway for fill around the house. Had .5" of rain saturday night and it drained really well. I will reshape the pond in the spring and build a little duck blind for hunting next fall.

Crew was there first thing this morning working on the pole barn. My dad is going to give them a hand running the bobcat to get all of the holes drilled since i had to go into work.

Also got a picture of my ram from last night when i stopped by to check on the site. It was an awesome sunset.

Nice place you've got going! The stair well from the garage to the basement looks like a good place to shelter from a tornado if one comes along. Thanks for sharing your build.
