Husky 2 Drawer Roll Cart

I saw these on sale/clearance for $40 this evening. I don't have a cart and was thinking about jumping on it. Reviews are decent but some point to the hardware being garbage. That's easy to fix.

It may be pretty hard to beat for $40...

If I could get one for $40.00 i would get it to put in my beadblast room. to hold all my consumables and tear down tools.

Goto HF for the quality toolbox? Pretty sad isn't it? I am planning to replace my Blue-Point box with the HF 56" or 72" box in the future.

But seriously, the closest roll cart at HF is nearly triple the price of the Husky I'm talking about. $40 is pretty cheap, even if you have to buy your own quality hardware. What is so ****** about it?

I am gonna check in my store tomorrow and see if they lowered the price. If so they are showing three so one will be mine. If the hardware is no good i have the good stuff all ready on the shelf.

One is getting filled with tools for a young friend of mine, one for just moving stuff around the house, one will be for my wife's craft room, and I'm not sure about the fourth yet, maybe I'll end up using it for an upcoming kitchen remodel. The cart is small enough to go through narrow doorways.
And yes, they are pretty ******.

What are the weak points of the cart. Hardware, sloppy drawers, wheels, or just the whole cart in general.

Hardware is the biggest, pot metal screws. Pretty thin. The top and bottom compartments' sides are not attached to each other, only braced by the legs. The casters seem okay, as do the gas struts. The drawers move well. I don't want to test it, but the finish seems delicate.
It has a locking switch inside the top compartment to lock the drawers and a barrel lock to lock the top. The drawers lock independently, without regard to lid position.

That locking bar would be the first thing to go if i can get one. Hardware i got that allready and for that price i will beef up drawer supports.

Yeah, I used all my own hardware too. Don't worry about the locking bar, just don't lock it. It's really not terrible, it's just little cheesy. It is what is. My wife just suggested that it'd make a cool and unique night stand. It's about the same size as mine which is falling apart.

Checked it out at my local store, and I'm just a DIY guy, not a pro by any means but the metal is as flimsy as it comes, almost feels like a toy...it was $80, but even at $40 I would pass, either one of the HF carts is a better buy, just my two cents.

I'd agree on the red HF cart, but the black one isn't much better than this Husky in my opinion. They may both be a better value, but at $40 I think these are cool little project carts. I'm not really thinking of it as "tool" cart, but more of a household cart. The young man I bought one for though, he's gonna ****.

I was just GoogLing HF service carts the other night and people place them by their wet bar with liquor and the mixing on them. Other people used them for arts and crafts as mentioned. BBQ cart when cooking for a lot of people.

I like them for that kind of stuff for sure.

Checked my HD this morning said they had 2 went to get it only had 1 left. Needless to say it will work for what i need it for now they have 0. And the important part got it for $40.00 Second HD clearence item i have snagged.

Agree, I barely was able to get mine, I called the store and they managed to hold one for me while some other guy bought the last 3 in stock. $40 is a great price already. Very happy with it so far, besides it being a ***** to put together.

I just upgraded the quality on my hardware kept what came with it might be able to use it elsewhere. And put a little bigger wheel on it.

Just saying I'd rather spend the $100 or or $150 for a new HF model is I was really going to really use the thing, or turn to craiglsist instead.. I posted a thread in the hot deals forum for someone selling a yr old red HF cart for $60 that he said was in great shape. Not saying I'd spend $700 on a snap on. Just saying $150 gets you a lot more and its still not a lot of money for something that can get banged around all day

You are correct depends on what you are gonna use it for. Not made for production shop mine is going in my beadblast cabinet room to hold dis-assembly tools. And consumables for my cabinet will be moved very little if any at all. For the price and the use it is perfect.

Anyone check out the 4 drawer cart while shopping for the 2 drawer? I'm curious how the quality is on that compared to a Red HF cart, but haven't found one on demo.

That cart seems to be a replica of the HF black cart. the HF red cart has 5 drawers.

Your points are valid. But, I wasn't in the market for a roll cart. But for $40 I was. I wouldn't be looking at the $150 HF cart otherwise right now.

not exactly. The sizes are different. Reviews state the husky cart is bigger than the red one.

For the price point and use i was impressed also. Made a few changes hardware wise. Played hell assembling it as you did. But will work perfect for intended use. And really organizes my beadblast area.

I thought it was going to take 45 minutes but sure was wrong, ended up being 3 hours. Had some trouble but the worst part was when I finished with tightening all the black screws. I stood back and it was about as square as a circle, had to have another person help make adjustments to square up the legs. Annoying to say the least.

I have wanted a hf cart for a while but I always end up deciding that I didn't need one. For $40 I couldn't pass it up. Mine if for moving all of my junk in and out when working outside. My shop is only 10x10 and I can't even walk in there (I hope to get that worked out in the summer) so this is going to make working outside a lot easier. This summer I got to fabricate some new outer rockers for my taurus, so I might even use this as a welding cart too. I might bolt piece of ply or laminate to the top as well to used it as a work surface as well.

Better hurry in my 4 HD I could get to there were 15 to 16 in stock just checked them again they are down to 8 half of them are sold. Debating on one more for the powdercoating area of the shop. Total organization is the goal.
