So far Westward is the only brand I've seen that has these sizes in deep and shallow, 6pt and 12pt.

Some brands have one or two of those, but not all of them.

Thanks! I found them on zoro and with shipping it was less than $10 for both. [emoji2]

If anybody else wants them here are the product numbers and links

I have 5/8" Blue Points shallow and deep and 15mm in Armstrong shallow and deep. I use all of them and just used the shallow 5/8" the other day on the wives tread mill. It also nice having all the pegs full to help see if you are missing anything after doing a job.

It's the deep 1\8" 1\4 drive that's killing me. In the UK, the only one I can find is Snap On at ~ $29 posted. Seems crazy for an entirely pointless thing I'll never use, but what can one do?

I picked up Carlyle 1/8" sockets in shallow/deep, 6pt/12pt to fill out my trays.

They weren't that expensive. Current prices from http://www.napaonline.com:

CHT S14004 - 1/4" drive, 1/8" 6pt shallow - $3.99
CHT S14104 - 1/4" drive, 1/8" 12pt shallow - $3.00
CHT SD14004 - 1/4" drive, 1/8" 6pt deep - $3.99
CHT SD14104 - 1/4" drive, 1/8" 12pt deep - $3.99

Does SK ship to the UK? They have it for $6.34 (4.39 pounds).
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007QVBJ2Y/?tag=atomicindus08-20

They sure do. £43.89, or $63.38 ;) Who knew an 1/8" socket could be so large and heavy to post!

Thanks though, I searched on the SK part no. and found JB Tool sells direct for £12 posted. Might work out all the hard to get piece I need to finish the set and get them in one go to minimise the postage penalty.

This is slightly off topic from the original question but since that's already been answered I see no harm. I just found an incredibly cheap 1/4" drive socket set that I bought a few years ago because the sockets at my school were completely unorganized. I didn't notice at the time but the set appears to have some unusual sized sockets, or at least sized that I've never seen before. It has a 13/32", 15/32", 6.5mm, and 7.5mm socket. I did a quick search on the sizes and didn't see much at all. Do any of you have these sizes or possibly even used/needed these sizes before?

I've got them myself...usually cheapest China looking tools you've ever seen. The 13/32 is close to 10mm and the 15/32 is almost a 12mm

I went into my local Napa today and they had the 1/8" 6 pt shallow & deep in stock. I was totally shocked because every time I go in there they always have to order what I need yet they stock an 1/8" socket. Go figure... :D

In the 5 piece set, are these 6 point sockets T6 3/32", T8 1/8", T10 5/32", T12 3/16", and T40A?

What's the T indicate?

The page says that they're 6 point. And the T is just part of the product numbers. If you search them on the snapon website you'll also get a bunch of torx drivers in your results but you'll find the sockets towards the bottom of the page.

The westward sockets I ordered just arrived and if anybody's curious my immediate impressions are that the fit and finish is exceptional. I can't tell exactly how thick the chrome is but it is identical to the chrome on my SK sockets in appearance. Only time will tell how tough it it. There are two immediate problems with them though. The first being that the indents aren't very deep and are somewhat small making them slightly hard to read. That doesn't really bother me much though. But what does bother me is that the 16mm socket has no indentations inside the drive end for it to snap onto a ratchet. However the 5/8" socket does have the indentations in it. I plan to contact westward to figure out if it is defective or if they just don't have those in the 16mm for whatever reason.

Fastenal shows that a 0-80 machine screw uses a 5/32" wrench.

(I bought a 1/8" shallow and deep at NAPA last night...)

Installing and removing rivets that hold Stanadyne's serial name plate onto the pump. The rivet are 1/8" hex and are power-driven on the production line with about 50 rivets on a stick that is loaded into the pneumatic driver. In engineering, we will use a hand socket. I found this picture on google:

I got my 5/8" deep and instead of narrowing the socket for the lower size the OD is the kept the same and the socket just has a super thick wall. Which means it doesn't fit into the little cup thing that come for the two smallest pins on the Hansen style trays.

Going to stick it in the lathe and see if I can turn it down.

Never had a need to remove the nameplate, but very familiar with pulling that cover next to it to adjust (increase) fuel output

I'm sure you already know this if you own a lathe but be sure to use LOTS of lubrication to keep it as cool as possible. You wouldn't want to normalize the piece by accident.

Cheers. I used plenty of lube and kept it cool as I could. It worked out well and I think the socket is still okay, though to be honest I can't see it getting a whole lot of use.

You guys with OCD are looking at this the wrong way. Are you trying to organize YOUR tools, or are you trying to set up a display of someone elses? Do you not like to drive your car if you don't have people to sit in all the other seats? I love to buy tools, but buying tools just to sit on the peg of a socket holder is crazy. If you don't want to shorten your trays, maybe black out the sizes of the ones you won't use or shorten the studs a little and use the open spot to store duplicates or whatever.
Jim
I love it good analogy.

Re: 5/8" and 16mm Deep 1/4" Drive Sockets

Can someone tell me where they have used a 1/8" socket??

I had to use one once and only once when changing out eprom chips in an old electronic controller. Not sure what the stud size was though and it could have been metric but when it is that small have to make due.

Only because this topic about people with OCD needing to fill a Hansen peg has come up several times before. Zoro carries the Westward brand part #10E874 gets you a 1/4 drive 16mm deep 6 point socket while part # 10E864 gets you a 1/4 drive deep 5/8 6 point socket. Bothe will set you back less than $5 plus shipping so don't expect more than a peg holder

Plenty of options for shallow but, deep is another story.

Hansen trays ****!!!!!!

I agree Hansen trays do ****!

I have used an SK 5.5 deep for electronic junk. I used it to repair a drill charger a few months ago. You find them half sizes on electronic junk. I have not ran into a 6.5 or 7.5 though.
