Curious.....What's the meaning and how do they come about? I'm talking about the threads that have the blue stars...some have lots of posts and some only have a few. Is it a rating?

"Rate thread" on the top left on the thread section. You can rate it 1-5 stars. The displayed is an average of all the ratings.

Yep, you have a "Rating" box at the top of your thread. People who read it can rate it. Sometimes I find a lot of threads really interesting and people give them the lowest rating. I don't know why but they must be mean or something. Maybe they have been in here too long and read too many threads about the same thing and snapped. You know, maybe something like the overwhelming amount of "Craftsman tools being made in China" kind of threads that appear to really get under some people's skin. Personally I am glad you asked about the rating box.
