Bike is looking great Jim !

Did you clear coat the Rustoleum and then use the Meguiar's ultimate compound to finish it before the wax ?

That's a pretty cool flammables can. You should post this in the vintage metal cabinet thread.

Made yet another magic wand. This time I carved the stars I've been making into an old baseball bat and put the googly eyes on them. I figure I'll display it at work. Anything to make a little fun. My tribe will love it. Others will be jealous.

I replaced the upstream A/F sensor in my '07 Legacy. Nasty little thing to get out, of course the threads were boogered when it came out. Chased the threads, replaced the sensor, test drive with the garage dog and all is good.

After that I actually wiped down and put away tools. Garage dog wasn't much help on that.

Finished up a new hardware storage system. I used to have my hardware in Schaller boxes in my Lista cabinets, but wanted to reclaim that space.

When I saw what SOJ had done with the HF storage cabinets, I took the idea and ran with it. Well, maybe I just walked with it- Mine isn't anywhere near as nice (I don't have the space, or more importantly, the carpentry skills he has), but it looks good from home, as we used to say. :)

In my case, I integrated it into an existing stair I had built long ago. That staircase had a portion with shelves which I removed and built a sort-of cabinet to hold the HF boxes. The "cabinet" part is just 2X10s with a white laminate top. The center divider is 1X10 stock.

I used 48 pieces of 2" aluminum angle, each about a foot long, to hold each side of the boxes up. Seems plenty strong, even for the really heavy boxes.

I painted it to match the rest of the existing staircase, and it looks like it was all planned and built at once (sadly, by the same person...)

Here's a pic:

IMG_2853_zps18zpxgkq.jpg

I used my trusty Brother P-Touch printer for the labels, using the same font as the ones on the rest of the cabinets in the shop (though printed in white instead of black for contrast against the black plastic of the HF boxes.)

Thanks to SOJ for the idea!

Very nice! Those trays are amazing and putting them in a vertical system like that is the best way to keep them. I have a similar system in my work van. You've done a great job with the build.

I got my surveillance camera & internet wires finally installed inside the garage. I have been putting off pulling the wires but the weather was nice.

Weeell, I noticed the gutters were overflowing in the carport and making a small creek run through the gravel & under the truck.
Saw that the gutters were separating from the roofline. Well, OK, makes sense with all that water in there.
Went to reattach the gutters, on a ladder, in the rain, and discovered that the fence was in the way.
So I tore down the fence, in the rain, on a ladder, with an electric drill.
Fell off the ladder (but only the once, and nobody saw) and reattached the gutters & cleared the clog.
Damn near tore a rut in the driveway when all that water came down the spout...
Either need larger downspouts or gutter covers.

Finished helping my wife organize and sort several tubs of items my sister in law gave us, and freed up one stall of the garage to put the car back in. Resorted the ceiling rack to make space for our utility tables that we returned with from my dad's place, and eventually moved all the loot from my dad's auction to its new place in both my garage and basement shops.. Still need to move the laminate wood top workbench into the basement.

Well, I had 2 jobs to do. Fix the brakes on the daily & reinstall a new o-ring on the transmission input shaft. I've noticed the brakes pulsating slightly & wanted to get in front of that. The torque converter clutch has been slipping a bit under load when locked in 4th gear since the engine swap. I suspected a nicked TCC oring since I didn't change anything with the trans.

First thing... pulled the rotors off the truck & made my way to the only parts house in town that still has a brake lathe to find... yep, rotors were below minimum thickness to be turned by 0.009". The tight-wad, spendthrift in me didn't want to pay full price over the counter before shopping around, so I reinstalled the brakes. I'll pick up new pads & rotors this week, most likely from rockauto.

Pulled the transmission back out to find that the oring wasn't nicked, gouged, or otherwise compromised in the least. Put the new oring on, & stuffed the transmission back in the truck. TCC still slips under load.:willy_nil
Installed a pressure gauge so I can see exactly what my tune tweaks accomplish. If I can't tune the slipping out, I'll have to install another torque converter. I really don't want to, but I'm pretty proficient at this point with getting it in & out.

So I worked allll freakin day & accomplished absolutely squat other than making a mess in the garage. I was so pissed I decided to screw my future self by not cleaning my tools.

I got some more Powder **** done (I think it was Intake Week lol -- there are three more not pictured), took delivery of some sweet new decals for the shop, cleaned off my work bench for a nice start to the new year, and actually got on GJ on my computer where things work, unlike my phone. :D

UPS stopped by today. The nice man dropped off my Clog Hog.
I've been waiting for almost a week. And, living with the burping potty and awful smells backing up along with questionable gunk in my downstairs shower.
Hooked it up to my pressure washer and an hour and a half later I have a nice clean free running sewer pipe to the tank again. Found 3 partial blockages. almost 100 feet out and it cut them down in a couple minutes. Way nicer deal than the renta snake that hardly ever works or they charge you soo much extra for enough snake to get all the way out. And, it's cheaper than 1 visit from the snake charmer. Definitely requires a 2.7 gallon 3000 psi washer to work, but I already had that, so it's not a big deal. I do need to buy the little cleaning tool and an in-line filter screen as my PW is old and pukes particles occasionally.

I've noticed that when we have a blowing rain, water will get between the panels of my garage door, & it drips on the camaro when I open it. I wanted to put some foam between the panels to keep the water from entering which prompted a full garage door insulation...

IMG_20151212_112129400_zpsy42whle7.jpg

I put double foil faced bubble wrap down
IMG_20151212_120519579_zpsbqk7xtcx.jpg

Then followed up with some 3/4" foil faced polystyrene
IMG_20151212_155401956_zpsfkw2nxw3.jpg

What did you use to adhere the bubble wrap to the door, and the panels to that?

Vacuumed a colony of lady bugs that decided to take up residence. Sorted thru tools and started organizing a small craftsman box and make things usable again. Threw out trash and junk that's been collecting. :\

Wax on wax off! The car is a 2012 and the paint needed some attention. I will try to stay out of the drive through car wash now.

I installed 3 Liftmaster 8500 openers on my house garages this past weekend. They are pretty darn quiet. I also replaced all the rollers with nylon coated versions.

Well I was going to go out to the shop and work on the Puma but the temp is 18 degrees and for Tennessee that's just to damn cold.:eyecrazy::eyecrazy:
Figured I would spend way to much on propane to make it comfortable enough to work than I could justify. View media item 57142

what?!
come on, that's only -8*C.
walk out to shop, turn heater on (and get fire started)
back inside to change into shop clothes
15-20minutes later it should be around 50*F (10* for rest of us)

nice temp to keep you moving while you're out there... maybe get it to 55*F if working with your hands a lot (mine freeze easy)

Amen to that zcar! It was pretty nice a couple weeks ago -- the mildest winter since I've lived here -- but being able to keep my feet up while polishing Commando valve cover fins today has been my only savior. Even with the heater on it's still cold in the shop. Might have to be a wuss and just say No to my usual Late Shift tonight. :D
