Place looks amazing! I love to see old farms refurbished. I sure it is worth the time and expense to do so. Hats off to you for doing an outstanding job of bringing the place back to life:beer:

Thanks, pretty happy with how it's turning out so far.

I second this! Love the rustic look, great idea.
Just need to finish it now!

Both the house and this picture are amazing.
Thanks, the house got a new green roof last year. Looks totally different and ties it into the barns more. I'll put another pic up when the grass turns green again. lol

Where abouts in Northern Illinois? I grew up in McHenry county:beer:
I'm in the Rockford area.

Been looking for a set of old gas pumps so I can put an island in front of my mancave. Finally found a set, a bit less desirable than I wanted but for a $100.00 how could I pass em up.
Not sure if I want to do a full resto on them or just get em so they look complete with the patina look. We'll see. First I have to find a good sheet metal worker who can fabricate new front and back panels for them.

These are Gilbarco 900 series pumps from the 50's I believe.

The place looks great. Nice job keeping those buildings alive, and bringing new ideas and life into them. Those gas pumps will look great either way - patina or restored. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks, Brett

Your colors are about the same as ours. I never thought the color of shingle that you used would look good. Boy, was I wrong. They'd also be cooler than the Estate Gray shingle that I used.

What brand of shingles are those and what color ?
Not sure of the brand but I do know they were a 25 year and bought at Home Depot. Color was Cedar Blend.
As I said, we've since gone to a Hunter Green when it was replaced due to hail damage. I like it a lot better as it goes with the shutters and the barn roofs. Sorta ties everything together.

Love your barns. What a nice place
Thanks, I appreciate it!

Again, Thanks! Barns rule!!:rocker:

Thanks! Been so long since an update that I have news on those pumps - sold em! But no worries as I bought these two to replace em. These are what I was originally looking for as they're more of what I remember as a kid growing up but never found and bought the other ones instead.
These showed up on Craigslist for $400.00 and I couldn't get there fast enough!:willy_nil
Don't have to do anything to these but hook up the lights and find globes for em.

I really like your galvanized wainscoting! What did you use to cut it?
Thanks, I love the looks of it also. I just used a cut off wheel with a 4" disc.

I really do need to update more regularly! Much has happened as evidenced above. Promise I'll be on here more often!

Quite the transformation. Those old dairy barns have so much character, When I'm Cruzin' the country roads, Its the old farm steads that bring fond memories back, You and yours have done a remarkable job to your place.

Keep at it Thumbs up.

Found some old stools and transformed them into these myself using some of my old jeans.

This bar will have a drawing of Route 66 painted on it then covered with a full length glass storm door as a top. I'll have lights around the perimeter under the glass.

Thanks guys. We're near the end of a 15 month kitchen, dining, living room remodel that's taken my fun time away from the barns, BUT it's making the wifey very happy. Back full bore on the outside projects starting this Fall!!

Your tin and recycled wood is exactly what I'm doing to my shop... take a look on my sig line.
Second those Tokheims are from the late 60'S and are from their "Interceptor" series. I only know this because I have one in that series. My skins are porcelain so I'd guess you may opt to go stay red...Texaco with Fire Chief would work.

You've done a heck of a job on that place...very impressive.

Thanks, and yes I plan on staying with the red. May not even paint the pumps as I like the older faded look.

Wow, this thread needs more attention! What a transformation from when you purchased this property, to what it had become today! One can really appreciate the time and effort it would take to renovate/restore a property of times past.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. I'll be updating this week with the latest pics and can finally say that I get to work on the barns again as the kitchen/dining room project is complete!

Ahh, Rockford ain't that bad as long as you stay outta the hood at night. I'm West of the city though where it's a whole different world!

All of the Fall/Winter work up through Christmas was in the house itself and I've now been given the green light to work on the barns! Prepare for regular updates in the coming months and all Summer long!:bounce:

My in-laws are in Savannah, you must be just East of there huh?

Yes I am 2 town east and I understood the "bego" triangle I have friends that live there. My in-laws are from Savanna as well. Looking forward to your updates and even though I'm not a Chevy guy I do appreciate the time money and dedication you put into your Camero, It looks great. Now dont forget to enjoy it when the weather finally gets better around here!

BTW I can tell you wrote this before the news last night 13 armed robberies in 3 hours last night!!!! And some people wonder why concealed carry is a good thing.

Just found your thread today. Really liked the way you brought back the old place!
I was in the Navy with a couple of guys from up your way, one from Freeport and one from Belvedere. I rode through that part of the country many years ago and thought it would be a cool place to live..in the summer.:lol_hitti
