I know that Utica Tool, Herbrand, and Bonney were all once a Kelsey Hayes companies, but I've not seen many standard combination wrenches like this one.. I have seen the Loc Rite and the Cam Loc versions with the KH Tool Div. brand on it, but not much else..

Very interesting. Would be a real challenge trying to date that one.

The Hex-Fit open end was intro'd in 1967 on Bonney. Can't say absolutely it wasn't on other branded wrenches. And I've seen Herbrand, Utica, and Bonney- branded tools after the Triangle Tools acquisition in that year, but the mother company KH seemed to have been dropped. Hmmm.

I guess it is a Loc Rite.... Sure looks like a standard combo wrench..

You know, the more I look at this wrench the more perplexed I am. I've seen other K-H labeled tools with Loc-Rite but not combo wrenches. :headscrat

Probably a good working tool, though. And I love how old tools logos were done with such flair and visual appeal.

Here is a thread with lots of information on these wrenches.

https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=385511&highlight=Loc+Rite

This was an early "flank drive" patented design. There are sockets out there, too.

I have a set of LR tube wrenches that I put together. I found one at a garage sale, then the second a week later. It took a while, and an Ebay purchase, to complete the set. They really grip the tube nut well. They are my go-to for this application.

I've used my Bonney tools with Loc-Rite on all sorts of fasteners. They have always worked well, even getting off nuts that a previous person rounded off. Though they are not indestructible - I've seen (and bought) Bonney's that were broken, stripped, and snapped off. But I've attributed that to misuse, as I've worked my wrenches hard and have never broken one.
My 9/16" combo wrench open end has been abused getting bicycle pedals off without breaking or rounding, even though I've stepped on the wrench! And a buddy has used the above pictured flare nut wrenches to get frozen fasteners off of things - not a recommended use of the tool for sure! :shocking:

You could do a whole lot worse than a Bonney (or Bonney clone) wrench.

Most new decent box wrenches utilize a broaching profile quite similar to the rounded lobes of the Loc-Rites.

But if you're looking for the older tools, Bonney was known to make some tools for John Deere and Matco with the special broaching. You could also search for Utica and K-H tools specifically and might come across some Loc-Rite equipped wrenches.
