Who makes a quality cooling system pressure tester?

I need to buy a pressure tester for cooling systems in the near future. I work on international trucks 99% of the time so I need one that will work for heavy duty applications. I would also like the ability to test caps. Any input is greatly appreciated!

My old shop had a steelman kit that I really liked. Im in the market myself so I'd be interested to see what other people recommend

I just bought a Stant 12270 and the build quality looks good. Adapters aren't cheap. I bought one from Assenmacher which was a little less than the Stant adapter.

Whatever you get, do yourself a favour and get air powered. So much nicer than pumping. Mine is a mac and it works great. The adaptor for International trucks was $20 I think.

I'm also looking for one. Part of the reason for me is also International trucks. I also need something for John Deere engines though too.

I have both the Snap-On and Stant which are pretty much the same. The various adapters are what add up for the different size/style of caps/bungs.

I have a "new" Stant 12270 and don't like it that much to be honest.

This is for home use and it allowed me to find the leak on my minivan, so it did the job. Mine is extremely hard to pump. My friend bought the same one and returned two of them because they were also extremely hard to pump. The 3rd one did the same, so he just kept it.

Does not make it impossible to use, not at all. And for home use I was not willing to pay more.

Most of the "quality" aftermarket ones are just rebranded Stant.

Hard to pump ? Drip a few drops of light oil (3-in-1, WD40) down the vent.

For big trucks air powered with no question. I worked at International and they were the reason I had air powered. There were times the test for 6.0 called for no coolant and 16lbs of air in the cooling system. Hard to keep that up with a hand pump. With that said Stant is a good choice.

Stant are good and can be found used on eBay. The adapters are expensive and can add up.

Ive always wanted to buy one but with the local parts stores renting them for free I just cant. If I lived somewhere a good bit away from a parts store or used it daily I could justify buying one...
