I just got my copy today of Consumer reports March Issue and on page 25 they report a recall of 1.7 Million Drill Master Cordless Drills; the switch can stick in the on position and overheat. The Drills in question were from May 2011 to September 2015 for $35 to $46.00 each.

If you bought one take it back to HF to get a replacement 1-800-444-3353 if you have any questions.

That is for accounting purposes. It works like this...

They sell the drills on sale at $10 all the time, but the retail price is $40 (just for the sake of round numbers).

They sell a million drills and make $10 million on them.

They recall the drill and replace them to anyone who comes in with the old one...but the retail price is $40. They swap out a million drills and get a $40 million tax write-off. Not bad considering the actual cost for them is a couple bucks apiece. They make money all the way around.

Not sure about that...but my friend worked at a Chrysler dealer in the mid-90's when they came out with the Neon. There were 15 part recalls on a 1995 Neon, and he said many times they had the new parts in before they had even announced the recall to the public.
